To get salmon for lunch even though I don't like it?

I don't like Salmon. I have never liked Salmon.

Today on the lunch menu is grilled Salmon and Asparagus on a bed of lemon noodles. I really want to get it. But I don't like salmon!

I had the fish pie a couple of weeks ago which had salmon in it and I ate that and it wasn't bad. maybe I am starting to like salmon?

Maybe? If you want to get the salmon, get the salmon. If you don't like it you can eat the asparagus and noodles and leave the salmon. I don't think you need to think about it too much.

I agree you might be overthinking this.

I think I am too. I am going to live on the edge and get the salmon.

Grin I have this sometimes when something that sounds nice has an ingredient I don't like. It mostly works out if I try it. A friend of mine has recently discovered that she actually likes mushrooms, after years of thinking she didn't!

well I have been sting before Nabootique I made a recipe that had lots of ginger in it. I don't like ginger. the meal was disgusting.

Then I didn't learn, I have made lots of tomato based dishes that I then can't eat because guess what I don't like tomatoes! But I always give it a go because it might taste different in a meal.

I did find a love of cheesecake though after thinking I didn't like it. Now I yearn for the years of cheesecake that I missed out on.

Cheesecake is more polarising than it's devotees realise.

Personally, OP, I overwhelmingly prefer smoked or raw salmon to cooked, which I think has an unpleasant texture.

Might be worth a try, it sounds delicious to me!

At primary school say about 6 we did cheese tasting project and I cried at devil's hot armpit roaming the earth as Stilton. Roll on to mid twenties with a friend raiding the cheese board at a buffet, I turn my nose up at the Stilton. She says 'I'm surprised you don't like it when you love all those other stinkers. Just try a bit.' I did. Bloody loved it. All those wasted years.

Have the salmon, of you still don't like it. You have the noodles and asparagus to compensate

I feel like that about coffee. I see people with their named cups, with their caramel-mocha-choca-skinny-cino creations and I really want one too!

Don't like coffee though. I feel like I have been robbed.

Asparagus in October? no,no no,avoid, it will be airmiled in from Chile or somewhere and horrible. Wait until delicious British asparagus come back into season next year, pig out on it for a couple of months , then regretfully stop eating it until 2018! Same with strawberries, there are still UK grown strawberries in the shops but they aren't as good as the summer ones. Eating seasonally really makes you appreciate food.

I use to hate salmon, but over the last 5 years I've grown to love it. I now frequently choose it. Now I just need to work on other things that 'normal' people like! Hope you enjoy it....you might have made it to tante other side too!

Laughing at KC and the wasted years. I had the same experience with fresh pineapple, I think the only pineapple I had tasted as a child was in tinned fruit salad and I hated it, until I ate the real deal and realised the error of my ways.

Though for me the years I have spent loathing the thought and taste of every blue cheese will never be wasted........

Well I got the salmon, first wary nibble I wasn't overly impressed but as I ate more of it with the asparagus and the noodles it was actually a really delicious meal and I am glad I gave it a go.

Don't get me wrong, it's not going to be my first choice of food everywhere I go but I can scrub it off the foods I don't like list.

It's good to be adventurous, particularly if that list of foods you don't like is a long one!

Salmon is such a bland inoffensive fish, surely eaten with the noodles it'll be fine.

I have recently learned not to dislike avocadoes in similar manner.

Beetroot was a breakthrough.

I sometimes go through phases of fancying a food I don't really like. It usually results in me starting to like it!

Maybe salmon is something you need to be in the mood for? You don't like or dislike it, but you have to want it to eat it.

Beetroot Shock Nope I can't ever see me liking the flavour of earth!

I am glad it kept you amused MyCat I have to say the staff in the canteen were amused too as they know I don't like salmon yet I ordered it anyway.

I don't think my list of dislikes is particularly long but thinking about it maybe I am fussier than I thought...

Mediterranean veg like, courgette, avocado, aubergine, tomato, olives

Christmas flavours like Ginger, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, dried fruit

Alcohol except peach schnapps

Really fishy stuff

is it really a long list? Blush I don't make a big fuss about it, I can always find something on a menu wherever we go and although I don't like tomatoes I can eat them in stuff like bolognaise and pizza and well whatever else they come in.

My brother doesn't like onion or mushroom or tomato and finding something for him to eat can be hard!
