AIBU?

To be seriously ticked off with asda online?

Due to ill health I am having to use them.

Several issues have occurred and whenever I've called helpline they have been rude, obstructive and frankly useless!

Tonight I tried to order a delivery and it said my payment was declined by bank. I called bank they say no payment authorised. Called helpline, they refused to accept it was their fault and tried blaming me/the bank. Were again rude, obstructive and then hung up on me!

I absolutely CANNOT afford to be paying twice and waiting weeks (months) for a refund!

Advice? (Using someone else, shopping in person are not options unfortunately).

Aren't Asda renowned for taking payment twice? I don't use them but it sounds vaguely familiar?

I tried all of them, found ocado is best. I think they have free delivery offers nowadays.

Asda are far and away the absolute worst in terms of Online delivery. Would never use them again.

If using another Online delivery is not an option, the only thing I can recommend is calling the helpline again and asking to speak to a manager, if still not getting anywhere, you may need to write a complaint to head office.

If you were charged twice, you should be able to call your bank and do what is known as a "chargeback", this reverses the payment and puts the money back in your bank account within 24 hours. You may find your bank will tell you that it can't be done, it CAN be done, so you may need to be firm (but polite) with the bank representative or even have to speak to a manager.

.....But if there is anyway you could use another delivery service I would.

Ocado is usually flawless and as bluebell said, they have an offer of £20 off your first shop. Also a lot of the branded stuff is the same price as Tesco's and if like me, you don't like Waitrose own label, doesn't work out any dearer. Sainsbury's are good too, Tesco's are ok. But again, Asda are horrendous.

I've found a no for UK head office so will try that later today. I've drafted an email too. It always astounds me how bad customer service is in this country its not as if there's a lack of competition! Maybe we (Brits) just don't complain enough?

I have seen threads about this and known it to happen in real life. A colleague's card was apparently declined twice at the till and she had to pay in cash. Then she found out both the declined payments had gone through. She had to make endless phone calls and wait weeks for a refund. Google "Asda took my money " and be Shock

I use Tesco's every week, have done for over 10 years, they are reliable and the customer service is fantastic.

i think it is unfair to label all asda customer services the same. are you sure you dont have a direct debit coming out?

Report
graphista · 19/10/2016 06:35

No I've no money due out 5x the price of the bill in my account. I checked with bank, as instructed no reason for it to be rejected in fact the authorisation payment has gone through. As for labelling all asda customer services the same i've had a problem of some kind every week for the past 9 weeks, this is a straw that broke the camel's back situation.

I'm still waiting on refunds relating to returned subs from the second week, I was promised e vouchers on my account they've not appeared, i've been told to expect emails and phone calls which never happened, i've been lied to abused, sworn at, told I am lying, that my bank is lying, and they've hung up on me repeatedly.

In addition just a quick search on mn alone reveals 9 pages of links to threads with others reporting the same issues, Google and you'll be shocked, check out their Twitter account - they rarely even respond on there!

i alternate between tesco and asda, tesco always seem to encourage me to buy more though, with reminders on line that are you sure you have got everything and pictures of stuff I have bought in their stores. Asda is more basic. but now they have started letting me know when their driver is to the minute! impressive.

I've been using Asda for years with no problems! I've found Sainsbury's the worst.

well that link is nearly 4 years old.

however you have your own issues with asda, fair enough.

I use Tesco most weeks and can't fault them, on the rare occasion that I have substitutes they are fine and sometimes I am quids in. Occasionally use Sainsbury if I have a substantial money off voucher but they are deff more expensive than Tesco.

It may be 4 years old but it's which who are STILL trying to get asda to sort this out. Google search returns tons of other forums where people have reported similar issues but wasn't sure if allowed to link here
