AIBU?

to think having white sheets in a hotel is not the best idea

So basically I stayed at a hotel last week with my dp. My period had just finished and we decided to make the most of no children and some us time. Anyway as you can probably guess there was some residual mess. It was very diluted but it was quite obvious what had gone on.

Why don't they have different coloured sheets. Anything other than white wouldn't have looked so bad

Because it's easy to boil wash and bleach white.

Crisp white sheets are lovely in a hotel though.

I'm pretty sure they've seen it all...I don't think i'd like to sleep in anything other than white sheets.

I like white! I like being able to see they are clean, and as PP says are easy to look after without ruining. I would be dubious of something more forgiving.

But on black you'd easily other bodily fluids

I'd rather see the odd period spot then spunk Grin

Coloured sheets are horrible.

Because when they've been laundered it's obvious they're clean.

Would you rather have something that looked better but couldn't be washed very clean so the stains would still be there for the next guest? White sheets can be washed at high temperatures.

What would you do at home?

Just have coloured sheets and ignore the mess? Use a towel?

Eve, yes they are I was just a bit embarrassed. I know i shouldn't be but i was. We are planning on going back to the place in a couple of weeks and I want to go to a different hotel. Even though it was lovely

It's actually quite easy to wash period stains out of white sheets - the key is to do a cool pre-wash before the boil wash you want a hotel to be doing!

Alberta the difference is I wash my own sheets at home. It didn't bother me that dp knew (obviously he knew) it was the fact other people would need to clean up the obvious fluids.
Yes I realise its weird and happy to accept IABU. Maybe because its my mess rather than his.

OP I used to clean hotel rooms and I saw it all. Honestly they won't care unless you shit the bed, trash the room, or murder someone.

Having managed hotels for more years than I care to remember, they are white for all of the previously posted reasons and I can assure you the house keeping team will not have even noticed given their heavy workload! It's only the bed setters and poopers or the sickers without letting you know that get a black mark !!

Don't be embarrassed, it a hotel they are used to it.
The main thing is you had a nice time

ohdearme1958 · 11/10/2016 17:57

OP, if it happens in future you can just fold the sheets back so the stains aren't visible. Housekeeping will know why and not think twice about it.

I want the sheets to be white so I know they are clean! I wouldn't worry - I'm sure they've seen a lot worse.

I had a VERY nice time. Numerous times Grin.

Ohdearme there was no way to cover it as it was on top of the duvet, under the duvet. I was a bit all over the place

My dad's friend did some work in a hotel. They had a wedding once where the bride, groom, bridesmaids and groomsmen all got coked off their heads and shit all over the room. Curtains, carpets, sink, walls. Everything had to be ripped out and a whole room redecoration.

Period blood is nothing Smile

I work in a hotel in housekeeping and that wouldn't bother me in the slightest, please don't worry, we don't even notice sheets coming off they go straight into the laundry bag, they are inspected going on to the bed though. Certainly don't be embarrassed to go back, if nothing else the housekeeping staff will have no idea who stayed in the room.

Oh not even stealthily boasting! Glad you had a good time. Don't give the sheets a second thought.
