I am genuinely worried about these people dressing up as clowns and think something nasty might happen.

Is it just me?

No, I think the same. It's going to end very badly Sad

It'll blow over. What are you worried about specifically?

Report
NoCapes · 10/10/2016 22:30

Definitely not just you
I have a phobia of clowns and this is all making me very very anxious

The kids (7&5) have heard about 'killer clowns following children' at school too and are really worried, DS's best friend cried!

It's fucking ridiculous tbh!

I've not seen any and most of the reports are a friend of a friend saw one didn't happen There are weirdos everywhere who may or may not do something terrible. Whether or not they happen to be dressed as a clown at the time doesn't really bother me either way.

Some of them are going around threatening people and brandishing knives. It will only be so long before somebody retaliates and there are serious repercussions.

Just heard of this but have not got much info, are they dangerous or just scary? Either way, I hate clowns and I'd be terrified of anyone scaring my little girl.

There are proper reports on the news - it's not an urban myth. I was a bit nervous walking home from yoga earlier. It's annoying.

What I don't get is just how fucking STUPID you have to be to see the killer clown stories from the states and think, "oh I'll do that!"

What the blue fuck is wrong with some people???

Carrying a knife is 5 years in jail isn't it? And harassing children? If it is happening then the courts should come down very very hard on these weird fuckers.

I think it's truly horrible Sad Really don't understand why they feel the need to scare people, especially school children. I'm sure it'll blow over soon though

I feel old. Why would anyone think this is a good idea?

MrsHiddleston · 10/10/2016 22:40

I reckon it's only a matter of time before someone seriously hurts one of them protecting themselves or out of fear.

RaeSkywalker · 10/10/2016 22:41

It makes me especially angry that these idiots are mainly preying on women and children. I really didn't need another reason to be wary of going out alone at night.

I heard from my local shopkeeper - and I have no idea if this is true - that it's all a publicity stunt for the upcoming remake of Stephen King's IT. If that's true then I'm going to boycott the fuck out of the release and hope everyone else does the same too Angry

iklboo · 10/10/2016 22:43

Stephen King & the film company have strongly distanced themselves from these morons. It's apparently nothing to do with the film.

Report
TrionicLettuce · 10/10/2016 22:44

I don't believe anything terrible happened the last time people decided this was a fun thing to do (2014), it'll likely just die down again just the same this time.

ChequeOff · 10/10/2016 22:44

Oh that's good to hear iklboo. Thanks for clearing that up!

The marketing bods for IT would have to be really keen, filming has only just wrapped and it's almost a year until the film is actually released Grin

I think there have been a few genuine cases (mostly pathetic teens jumping out of bushes but I agree worrying if knives are involved) but 99% of 'sightings' are BS imo.

MyPeriodFeatures · 10/10/2016 22:53

So it's been done before? It's not cool at all. The press seem to be reporting on 'clowns' carrying knives. Ummmm it's people carrying knives ?! That's scares me.

I saw one tonight at a bus stop in my local town centre. I drove by quickly.

I was out walking the dog earlier with DD and she suddenly gets hysterical that there was a clown behind the tree at the end of the road... It was just a fellow dog walker waiting for his dog finishing it's shit.
Her friend texted her a photo of a clown in a neighbouring garden at the weekend, it was one of those stone Buddhas with coloured solar lights lit up near it. (It did look quite clowny to be fair)

I reckon the majority of the sightings and reports are just overactive imaginations

This clown business is fucking bizarre.

I've heard genuine reports of people in masks chasing school children and generally lurking from mums I know and seen the pictures too. I'm convinced it's daft teenagers getting a kick out of scaring fellow pupils after school and not thinking of the implications or just not informed or emotionally mature enough to do so but they are going to get themselves in trouble. One "clown" chased a boy right into the road. How dangerous. As for anyone stupid enough to take a blade outside...

Something nasty will happen though. You don't get away with terrorising children in broad daylight. Just even thinking about it riles up my inner lairy-mum Angry

And I do worry that someone will take it too far. I bloody hate halloween at the best of times Hmm
