To use shampoo to wash my body?

I've given up on sponges/flannels/shower gel/soap. I just use my hands and the shampoo I've just lathered onto my head. DH thinks its gross. I feel clean and don't smell. Gross?

What's gross about it?

No idea. I think sponges are gross.

Yes, it's fine, but you might find it dries your skin a bit.

Sponges and things are full of germs.

I wouldn't think it's optimum for your skin compared to a nice body wash/gel with moisturiser/etc in it, but "gross"? Not at all. Shampoo will wash you just as well as any other detergent (including washing up liquid).

It's a good job your husband wasn't around in the days when carbolic soap was used for everything-dishes, hair, body,clothes... everything

I'm sure Original Source used to make - and possibly still do - a shower gel that could specifically be used as a shampoo. Something like that might be a better shout for you than regular shampoo?

Can't see a problem with it. I use the dregs of shower gel as shampoo.

I expect there will be some technical reason why it's not recommended but my hair hasn't fallen out or turned into a dry pile of dust yet.

I'm sure I've had shampoo/shower gel two in one things before, and if I occasionally run out of soap i use shampoo to wash myself and I've not felt any less clean.

I'd be less inclined to wash my hair with shower gel than my body with shampoo. But I suppose in the end soap is soap so it doesn't really matter.

But to answer your op, on, not gross at all. sponges are gross though

I remember the days when we used to use washing up liquid in the bath if we had run out of bath foam - no showers in those days.

There's probably very little difference between shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath and they can probably all be used interchangably. They just make lots of different ones so people buy more.

I use my shampoo to wash my body, unless I am using some special shampoo that day (sometimes I use a blue toning shampoo that stains skin, for example.)

I can't be bothered dealing with several different cleansers in the shower.

When I want to wash my face, which I do in frequently, I apply a separate cleanser outside the shower and rinse it off in the shower.

I used Aussie shampoo for my body because it's my most favourite smell and I haven't found a body wash that matched up to it yet.

I use a bar of soap for my arm pits though. I have no idea why.

It's what I do too. I fail to see the point of using a separate soapy liquid when I've already lathered one up and can use those bubbles.

Shower gel and shampoo are essentially the same product anyway.

Get a cheap one of each and read the ingredients.

Nothing gross about it at all - its all just detergent with a bit of perfume. Shampoo tends to be formulated so it doesn't sting if you get it in your eyes, otherwise it's pretty much the same product.

As long as you rinse properly it's fine.

Personally though I would want to wash my body after I've shampooed and conditioned my hair. To me it doesn't feel quite right if I rinse out the conditioner all down my body and don't wash it off....maybe I'm the one that's being U!

Has he explained what on earth is gross about it? Clearly all you're doing is using soap to wash with which is, um, what most people do.

I do it all the time. Soapy liquid is soapy liquid. Don't have any problems with either my hair or skin because I rinse both well, then condition hair and moisturise skin. I'm all for making life easy.

I can't see a problem, it's all foamy soap isn't it. I often use hand wash when I forget to pick up we run out of shower gel, and I have been known to use shampoo on my arm pits if it's that or smell...

A girl from work use to openly admit to using fairy washing up liquid in the shower.
