To think Child Humiliation is abuse?

Ignore the fact that it's the Daily Mail, I'm more concerned about the video and the content of the story.

This girl's mother publicly shared her daughter's humiliation as she shaved her hair. The tag line says she did it because the girl bullied a cancer victim but further down in the story, it says the video was shared before saying it was because she shared nude photos.

Either which way, this video has left me shaking. I am as angry about this as I am about the videos you see of children being force fed hot sauce for lying or an absolutely heart breaking one of a young boy being pinned down by his head teacher and her secretary so they could paddle him.

How can this be acceptable? Sad

No we wouldn't use humiliation as a way of talking to/supporting adults so why would you with a child. All you're teaching them is to avoid detection and showing them nothing about the harm in their actions.

I wouldn't use humiliation as a punishment for an adult, even, but I could happily make an exception in this mother's case.

I'm not going to watch the video.

What on earth was the mother thinking? Shaving someone's head is not an appropriate reaction to bulling or sharing naked photos. Seemed warped

ChickenSalad

Is that because it was about a cancer victim? If you read the article, it says the video was shared before as punishment for sending nude photos. There is no way to know exactly what the girl had done to deserve such abhorrent treatment from her mother.

The girl is practically an adult, reminds me of Carries mum. The mother can't be right in the head, awful.

Why are you sharing the link therefore adding to the humiliation?

I wish that girl felt she could stick up for herself. Poor girl, evil cow mother. Sad

It's not acceptable. If it was for bullying then we know where the daughter gets it from given the mother is a bully herself.

I think chicken was saying she'd make an exception of punishing the mother like this, not the daughter.

Patents that behave like this are a) Bullies and b) just attention seeking online, after 5 minutes of 'fame'.

Oh sorry ChickenSalad, I misunderstood your comment.

I hadn't actually considered that. 😕 I was just hoping to discover that the majority agreed with me and didn't use humiliation to control their children.

It is abusive. I'm not watching. The sick mother is probably counting up the number of views, so you sharing the link is feeding into that I'm afraid.

That link is to an article, you have to click on the video separately.

I get that there are different ways to teach people a leson, but I'm not sure how that is one of them. It's cruel.

Plus, the child is fully grown! I wish she's Stand up for herself

They might both be damaged. Imagine growing up with a mother that thinks that kind of thing is normal?

Just to say, I have reported my comment with the link to avoid sharing the humiliation further.

Thank you to those who pointed that out to me. That was the last thing I wanted to do.

Sorry, haven't watched or read the article as my DM humiliated me all the time when I was a child. However, do you think there might be a case of complicity and they're both acting up to go viral?

Children are easy targets and a bully who is a parent can easily bully their little ones. I've seen dreadful instances of name calling in public where the child is sobbing and answering back which fuels the parent's anger even more. It's sad to watch.

Quite possibly Vanilla. This isn't the first head shave humiliation I've seen. Makes me so angry.

Surely forcibly shaving a child/adolescent's head is physical assault? I would think this woman has exposed herself to criminal charges, which I sincerely hope are acted upon by the police.

I would hope social services would have something to say about this.

As much as the idea of a child bullying a child with cancer makes me angry, there has got to be so many better ways to deal with it than this.

I watched it, purely because some people were saying that it was 'fake' and that the girl would have been reacting more if it truly was against her will. Sadly, I concluded that it seemed very real.

Some people have terrible scars from their childhoods but most of them won't have those scars played out across the internet for eternity. I'd be amazed if she has a good relationship with her mother once she gains independence.

I don't believe the cancer victim bullying story, given that there are multiple narratives around the video. That seems designed to manipulate you into being on the mother's side.

As a Mum of a teen who was bullied on social media I think that's disgusting. Having said that who the hell uploads this rubbish to try and gain some warped noteriety. I cannot envisage my dd sitting still and letting me shave her hair off, she'd get up and run off somewhere. However I do not think anyone should be should be bullied for having cancer and most teens are supportive of any of their friends who are suffering.
My dds bullying from Social Media was really awful but was resolved by me visiting the offenders Parents and making a huge fuss at the school.
If that video is true the Mother is just as much a bully as her daughter supposedly is and she is a poor example of parenting. Perhaps whoever knows her should have a word about being an absolute attention seeking twat.
