They can never ever ever park there massive cars in the space so decide that they are therefore entitled to park in the disabled spaces. As a wheelchair user who somehow does not qualify for a blue badge, this really grinds my gears!!!!

Round here they all work for JLR. That's the only assumption I make. Why else would anyone have one..? Confused

I don't mind that they're big. But agree on taking up all the road. I suspect because they don't want to get their ridiculously expensive car dirty or scratched from doing what is designed to do. However, I suspect MN is full of Range Rover owners who will disagree with you.

That would piss me off music.

I don't understand the need for one unless you live on a farm maybe.

Most of them are driven by blonde, overweight middle aged women, particularly the 'fake' 4x4s like Jukes etc.

I want one. Sadly my bank balance doesn't agree

I've just been forced on to the kerb in my reasonable sized family car, a berlingo, to let the range rover past as he pulled out past parked cars when I was coming towards him and was my right of way.
I've been forced in to hedges many a times because they are too fucking big for the country lanes and no one ever seems to know the width of their own car

YABU
We live in a society which is based on free choice - none of your business (I have owned lots, thought don't currently - and have used them how they were designed, but reserve the right to buy one and use it how ever I want that is legal Grin)

all drivers should drive properly - on that YANBU - but nothing to do with the car - everything to do with the driver

But guns that what landrover defenders are for. I don't know any self respecting farmer who would own a range rover either

I adore my RR sport. It's comfy as fuck for long distance driving and fits all 4 of us plus two dogs and luggage. We live in the arse end of nowhere so it's handy in the winter when the roads are bad. I have all the parking packs on mine so no issues parking it here!

Yes akk but it's much easier to drive a smaller car than a fucking huge one. Easier to park, nip in to gaps, give way to oncoming traffic, negotiate country lanes

That's the advantage of living in JLR country. They are all so paranoid about marking the things that they give way nicely to my middle aged small car.

a lady i know has one,in fact three cars in the family, they are a large family and that is their choice of family transport

dont see a problem and if i drove and could afford to i would have one to

they seem safer to be in then a car and as im a nervous passenger would rather be in one of them

Range Rovers are an epidemic around here, in the Essex commuter belt specially the white ones.

I think they're a bit naff tbh.

I guess they think paying £600 per month to hire a car they'll never own entitles them to double space.
I mean, the Queen does drive one.

Sparklesilverglitter · 01/10/2016 18:56

Surely if it's easier to park a smaller car depends on the driver? I've seen some pretty appalling parking from smaller car divers too.

If I could afford a Range Rover I would buy one tomorrow, but unfortunately our budget won't allow

I think you are all being unreasonable to think that the roads have been designed with your cars in mind.

City roads were designed long before petrol cars were invented. We just have to accept that everyone needs the road, so there will be compromises.

A range rover evoque is slightly wider than a Berlingo - but is shorter - so, perhaps you need to clarify which range rover and whether you object to width or length Grin

also - no such thing as having right of way in that situation, you only have right of way in e.g. a one way street - what you have is priority, that doesn't mean that a car coming the other way is not allowed on 'your side' of the road... it simply means that whoever gets to the parked cars first can pull out - regardless of side of road - so if you were already parallel to the parked cars he was wrong, if you had not got to them then there is no requirement for him to wait for you, he is allowed past and if you arrive while he is still passing, then you need to wait for him...

boo we can fit all of that in to our berlingo.

I once watched a docu about people defending ranger rovers saying that they're safer for their kids to be in. Which is true I'm sure. But someone else pointed out that they are more likely to die being hit by a range rover type car than other types. They put 9 children or around 4yrs old behind a range rover. The driver couldn't see any of them in their mirrors.

I live in the arse end of nowhere so no parking issues here. I could afford the car, I can park the car so why not

I take issue with anyone who boasts about there expensive car when they've actually got it on finance.

My car only cost 7kish (second hand) but at least I flipping paid for it!
