About the Dog. Again.

So I got back about 3pm, having had a really lovely day out; and I needed it.

My DH has to work (albeit usually from home) and the only time I've been out for the last fortnight is for a never ending round of hospital appointments.

So I get back, and Caramel (next door's Golden Retriever) is in the garden. He's had a rare old time. There's dog mess all over my lawn and it looks like he's chased after the squirrels as a lot of my garden has been wrecked and flattened.

All the dog stuff is in a plastic bag by the gate. The Dog's had no water all day Angry and it's been hot here today. There was a house plant and a card from my neighbour in another plastic bag (first in three months).

DH has been out since the school run this morning, so I thought he had agreed to look after the dog, so I was cross with him as I've got my third breast cancer surgery tomorrow and he hadn't told me about looking after the dog today.
Just spoken to him (he's been in Dorset with no signal).

Neighbour collared him this morning and asked him if we'd look after the dog as she "had to go away for a couple of days" and he said absolutely not. Sorry... Tutti's got more surgery and we've just got too much on at the moment.

So she obviously wouldn't take no for an answer and just left the dog in our garden, reeking havoc all day and with nothing to drink.

I'm beyond fuming.

My other lovely neighbour is taking the dog to her Sister's later when she picks her children up.

I remember you op, can you report her for neglect. She shouldn't have animals.

I'd be taking darling Caramel to the local rescue centre as a stray and report the neighbour for neglect for good measure. Poor thing clearly needs a new owner. And the last thing you need is more hassle.
Hope your surgery goes well Flowers

WTF!! Are they for real? Sorry I don't know any history but this is just not on! DOn't they care for their own dog? Why won't they wait to hand over their dog? You need to tell them that the next time this happens you will call the dog warden and they can then pay them to get Caramel back. Poor dog.

Shutup. She's got a new owner.

My neighbour is going to take Caramel to her Sister's and they are going to (try) to keep it. My nice neighbour is furious and says that she wont be getting the dog back as she abandoned it.

Good on your nice neighbour. And good on you all for putting your feet/foots (?) down.

Deny all knowledge of dog - after all you didn't agree to look after her...

Report
EtTuTuttiFrutti · 28/09/2016 19:21

I have watched that dog get more and more depressed and down in the mouth as the years have gone on.
I don't know what the law says, but as my nice neighbour says, she probably wont put up much of a fight as the dog is such a bloody inconvenience to her.

Just tell her you weren't home so it must have run away

My mum and dad did this, a breeder friend of ours had heard that one of her pups was being neglected, left outside for days at a time etc. She warned the 'owners' but she buggered off for the weekend leaving the dog behind. We came up, took him for a walk with our other dog and took him home. Our dog breed has a thick coat, he hadn't been brushed in months. It was the best thing I think we ever done, he was the most loving, friendly dog

Feign ignorance. "Your dog?!? No idea, been home since 3 and not seen a thing".

I think my neighbour is going to put her straight without pulling any punches. I'm cross. She's bloody furious.

She may or may not be also flinging all the dog muck over the hedge back to next door, tomorrow after I leave for the hospital.

Well done your nice neighbour. I would throw all the dog poo and toys back into horrible neighbour's garden Angry

X-post. I wouldn't be too careful with my aim either.

I have no idea how there is dog mess all over your lawn after 1 day tbh? My dogs only crap once a day...... there again the dog is not your responsibility and if your neighbour has gone off on her jolly's and left it to fend for itself you should contact your local dog warden or RSPCA (RSPCA will turn out to be a waste of time tbh)

And you need to send this troll of a woman the bill for repairs to your garden while you're at it.
I hope all goes well with your surgery. I am so happy that your lovely neighbour has got your back.
Also - please keep us informed about how evil dog-neglecting neighbour reacts to lovely Caramel's new circumstances.

I know that he goes to the loo every time we've walked him in the past (three/four times a day), but I don't know what's normal for a dog ? We're cat people.

I would still report her, just incase she gets a new dog

Nice neighbour (who I have called Dawn, but it isn't her real name) is going to read the riot act and we've agreed that when she turns up to collect the dog I'm just going to say that Dawn's got him.... and she'll take it from there.

She's very nice but I wouldn't cross her Grin

I'm not a pushover, but I've looked after the dog, her children etc. and would help anyone out if I could, but I felt very let down by her and a bit of a mug after last time. So I don't feel in the least bit responsible now.

If she did get another dog, we will certainly report her. I don't think she will.
