AIBU?

To already be dreading the clocks going back?

DS wakes at 5.10 regardless of when he goes to bed. I'm not really coping as it is, when it's 4.10 I don't know what I'll do :(

I am not. For the first time every I am looking forward to it as we close an hour earlier for 6 months of the year. Can't wait.

With darker mornings you might find he sleeps more?

Do people really notice a difference after the first night? Surely it just becomes the 'right time'?

I was dreading it last year but actually DD slept longer with the dark mornings. The clocks going forward however was horrible!

I'm not looking forward to it either, but that's because I hate winter :( i am very much a summer person! My DP on the other hand is hoping for snow lol.

However, darker mornings might encourage him to sleep more. i have my fingers crossed for you!

Sorry op but I can't wait. My eldest daughter (only 5) seems to struggle with the summer timings and has been impossible to put to bed. Earliest I have managed this summer is 9.30. Can't wait for clocks to go back and hopefully she will go at 8.30

Oh op. I remember this dread. I'd forgotten until you mentioned it - so there's hope!

My ds is almost 4 and sleeps till 6:30/7. Although he's been poorly so this weekend we've been up pre 6 am both days and I had forgotten how knackering it is. And that's just two days on the trot! And at least it was the weekend, sink could bring the duvet down and put a movie on while dozing/chilling. Can you do that or do you have to get up and put in the mornings?

Anyway. Flowers

Oh, I meant to say this time last year we were in the thick of 5/5:15 wake ups.

Not sure if he can tell the time? If so, just don't change the clock in his room.... Blush

I hate the winter. I have to get up for work early regardless of what day it is so in the winter i have to get up when it is still dark, go to work when its dark and come home when its dark.

I work Sunday mornings and I've booked the day off. It makes me cry every year to get up at 4am. This year I'm staying in bed and taking a day to get used to the idea.

I hoping he'll be in a new phase by then but honestly I spend a lot of time thinking about it! I'd kill for a 6 wake up - which about 6 months ago counted as annoyingly early.

When the clocks change we don't bother changing them until the next day, so wake up time is no different iyswim. Deal with the change during daylight hours!

I'm looking forward to it please don't punch me I have reverse SAD and hate the summer (especially as I'm in N Scotland. In the middle of the summer it's light for 19 or 20 hours a day). I have bipolar and end up in hospital with psychotic depression every bloody summer. I love this time of year--I have the whole of the winter to enjoy. Grin

I thought this was going to be another thread where someone in the "south" got in a fight with someone in the "north" about daylight savings time and how it ruined/benefitted their lives.

I'm disappointed... But hopeful.

I get very confused about this. I can see that kids just wake, so he'll wake at what the clock says is 4 because to him it is 5. For the rest of us, though, our normal get up time will be later, won't it? The time which was 6am is now 5am but I don't have to get up until 6am which was 7am. Am I right? Or not? And can someone explain it to me if I'm wrong? I get madly confused every 6 months and can't ever remember how it works. If I'm wrong can someone explain it please?

That's right cardi

I like winter but hate the dark
Mornings and evenings. I'm dreading it too

Report
cardibach · 25/09/2016 20:10

Thanks Threebed. I hate winter too - I work long hours and feel like a mole going out and coming in in the dark. I'm glad I get an extra hour's sleep at least!

I hate it, have to ride my horse in the dark then go to work and get back to the yard after dark. I adore autumn, its gorgeous but sadly winter always follows with its mud and frozen ground. Although I do get a nice feeling when the weather is bad, knowing my girl is warm in her stable.

Hate it. Dark mornings, dark at 4pm, lights on. Urgh. Can't be good for the soul, this persistent darkness.

I hate the winter, cold dark and miserable. YANBU
