Asking your opinions on the Peugeot 208?

Hi all I'm looking for a new car. I really like the look of the Peugeot 208s but there are a few things I'm unsure of such as the smaller steering wheel and the lack of CD player which I worry might be bit of a gamble.

If you have a 208 or know of anyone that does- what are your thoughts? Is the lack of CD player annoying? Does the steering wheel obstruct the view of the dashboard?

Please will you share your 208 experiences if you have any? Do you regret buying it? Or do you love it?

It's a big purchase so just really interested in what other people have to say.

Thanks everyone!

I wouldn't buy a French car, full stop.

Speak to any mechanic and they will tell you how shit they are.

If you're buying new and will be trading it in after 3 years, but if you want something that's going to last you over 8 years and be reliable, then don't do it.

I'm on my 3rd Peugeot - I currently have a 308 but in the past I've had a 206 and a 206 estate.

I love them! My current one is 8 years old and has never had a problem so I;m not sure what the poster above me is talking about.

I only got rid of my 206 estate because someone drove into me and it was an economical write off.

Just type "French cars reliability" into Google and the results speak for themselves.

As I said, ask any mechanic, and they will tell you the same.

I love my Peugeot. It's done over 100,000. It's not a 208 but I'm definitely buying Peugeot again.

I had a Peugeot 207 until recently. It was great BUT at 8 years old it started having serious mechanical issues, mostly with the electronics. I would buy one again.

I also had a Renault Clio before that - never again - dashboard fire after 3 years and the car was mine from new.

Now have an Audi. Lovely car, very fast but I still had to change the clutch after the warranty had run out (wasn't new, 18 months old).

You never know what issues there will be with any car.

I love the look of Peugeots (have had three myself) but they aren't the most reliable. Get a German make instead

Lack of CD player wouldn't bother me. My car is French (Citroen) and it's been fine. No CD player - but we do have a USB port and Bluetooth to connect devices to.

We had a Peugeot. It cost us s bloody fortune in repairs and it has really put me off having another.
I think it depends with all cars. You either get a good one r a bad one.

I'm also on my 2nd Peugeot and have never had any problems with either of them. I would buy another.

A lack of CD player wouldn't worry me as I either listen to the radio or stream music from my phone via Bluetooth anyway. And I had no idea that the steering wheels are smaller, I've never noticed a difference!

We had one. It was great and very reliable. Now have a Ford Fiesta which is fab on every way.

The steering wheel is only smaller on the 208 model- it's about 6inches smaller in diameter so your hands are a lot closer together and it sits lower down.

When using iPods etc do you have to reach down and change the tracks using the iPod itself or can you do it through normal car controls like you do when you play cd?

I'm not worried about buying a Peugeot, I've had peugeots before and like them, I'm just unsure whether to play it safe and go for a 207 which I don't love the look of but its non offensive and is a safe bet or go for 208 which is lovely looking, but has features I'm not familiar with such as smaller steering wheel and no CD player, just a touch screen radio system instead (which I think you can connect iPod to?)
