So, I've had a few episodes of pancreatitis over the last few years and under a consultant as it looks like I may have the chronic form :( I'm suffering pretty bad today having a flare up so need my bloods taking to see how high my amylase levels are. I feel too poorly to sit in A&e. I have two Dc's and will probably end up getting admitted so would like to see them for a bit. My plan is to ring 111 when I've got them to bed then they should make me an appointment at out of hours and I'll get bloods done then they can ring me with results and I'll go in if too high. Does that sound like a good plan or am I playing the system ?? I've dosed myself up on cocodamol but feel like I need something stronger now.

Can you ring your gP and get them to send you a slip through to the phlebotomy clinic in the hospital? You might not have to wait long at all there if it's like my hospital.

Thanks Pikachu, i did think about that but would have to get through to the receptionists/ gatekeeper at go first! I don't know what time the blood clinic closes at the hospital . Rally, I think I just don't want the waiting around if I can help it,

I doubt out of hours would to anything other than send you to a&e I'm afraid. They will not have the pathway to get urgent bloods done - for instance even if you were not very unwell they don't have transport to get the bloods to the lab at 8pm
