Really BBC ? Such a dramatic way of reporting on the BBC News page over a TV programme but then the story is Pro BBC sooooo....

www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-37437907

clickey linkey thing....

Not remotely surprised!

Oysterbabe Thu 22-Sep-16 10:16:25

So now it all falls to Paul. I reckon he'll go to 4.

Yeah because nobody else was talking about Bake Off, obviously hmm.

Frankly, having done all the hard yards in making a show a hit, and having the show cherry picked for 4x the original cost by a competitor, I would be inclined to make a big deal out of it pour encourager les autres, frankly....

olderthanyouthink Thu 22-Sep-16 10:19:23

Good, I think Paul will go to channel 4

mandi73 Thu 22-Sep-16 10:19:35

So basically the name The Great Brisish Bake Off is going to Channel 4????

JayDot500 Thu 22-Sep-16 10:20:11

Argh she's definitely BU angry

Jellybean83 Thu 22-Sep-16 10:21:44

Good, I thought she would! I hope Paul does too but I think he is more likely to follow the dough.

KimmySchmidtsSmile Thu 22-Sep-16 10:22:15

So all that cash for a tent and Paul Hollywood.
They could stick him with Nigella, I suppose.
That would get the gossip pages going.
Presented by Kirstie and Phil.
Won't be remotely the same but might still be watchable (as one who watched Top Gear reboot without hurling remote at the telly).

PumpkinPie9 Thu 22-Sep-16 10:23:18

Come on Paul. You are needed to start a new baking show on the bbc. I wonder who the new presenters will be on ch 4. Nadiya maybe?

SinisterBumFacedCat Thu 22-Sep-16 10:24:44

This is all too much for me after the shock of Brangelina

It's like Brexit all over again

RebootYourEngine Thu 22-Sep-16 10:26:39

This isnt really a shock. Paul was pictured leaving channel 4 offices. Think he will go with the money. The new presenters will probably be which ever reality tv star is 'popular' when it is made in 2018.

BaggyCheeks Thu 22-Sep-16 10:27:59

I'm not shocked, but I am upset. Make the most of this series, it's the end of the world as we know it.

<weeps into bakewell tart>

jay55 Thu 22-Sep-16 10:28:07

She is not being unreasonable.

I bet whichever supermarket sponsors it on 4 will have their advertmonkey as a judge....

BlackeyedSusan Thu 22-Sep-16 10:28:49

yeah well. that went well for the production company. hmm

Biglaugh Thu 22-Sep-16 10:29:00

You've got to want to be a fly on the wall at C4.
'So let's recap, we've got a large tent and a scouse bread expert and it cost us how much again?'

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington Thu 22-Sep-16 10:32:10

Good for Mezza Bezza.

I couldn't imagine her feeling at home on Channel 4, now when Naked Attraction is on the air!

Paul staying or going depends on whether he gets Top Gear or not.

GabsAlot Thu 22-Sep-16 10:34:01

first world problems eh

paul hollywood is a twat anyway hes got no loylties he'll go with it

usual Thu 22-Sep-16 10:34:12

She probably only ever watches the beeb. C4 is far too common for the likes of Mary.

walruswhiskers Thu 22-Sep-16 10:35:15

Take a message to Mary, tell her Britain says "well done".
Don't mention my soggy bottom or the low rise on my bun.
Tell her not to sit by the phone, soon the Beeb will call,
The only question that now remains is what will you do, Paul?
Oh, what will you do, Paul?

Butteredparsn1ps Thu 22-Sep-16 10:36:33

Good for her. She retires with grace while the show is a success. Elegant lady.

loobyloo1234 Thu 22-Sep-16 10:36:55

Paul will go to Ch4 ... who can blame him? He'll probably be paid a fortune. Mary is too BBC. No surprise that she's quit surely? hmm

Oh well, I'm in the minority I guess but I'll probably still watch it. It makes me feel really bad about being an absolutely pants baker but I still enjoy it smile

Goingtobeawesome Thu 22-Sep-16 10:36:56

Apparently Paul was seen at C4 yesterday so he's at least open to talking to them.

I think Mary, Sue and Mel have all done the right thing. If the BBC are smart they'll get a show going with those three ASAP. Not Paul though. He's not loyal.
