AIBU to ask those of you who have been through this torture for your recipe/meal ideas post surgery?

After the GA wore off... Chocolate and gin. And codeine and prunes.

Peperonata... What's that? Sounds intriguing! He won't eat soup (although I will when I have mine out soon as well!)

Anything soft that isn't hot enough to burn your mouth or too too spicy for the first 24-48hours. I inadvertently had chilly and the hole burned Blush

I was eating soft sandwiches, soup, noodles, etc

Tomato soup is brill, and if you leave the bread to soak in it long enough it's really soft too so it lines your stomach for painkillers. And lots of ice cream or frozen sorbet is good for helping soothe your throat.

Soup and skyr. I fucking hate yoghurt-type items as well, and quickly get sick of soup, so I started dropping small bits of torn-up bread in the soup and leaving them to soak, then basically inhaling them. It was much more satisfying than just eating soup and skyr. Unfortunately I worked at a fast food place at the time and was gutted that I couldn't eat the free food I could freely take.

Cross post on the soggy bread! When I initially got home I had been told to immediately take some painkillers but I couldn't open my jaw enough to get them in and majorly freaked out. I managed after about 20 minutes though. Hope that helps!

Mine wasn't torture - I had all 4 out at the same time and I was a little swollen, but don't remember it being especially harsh.

Biggest recommendation is soft food that will not leave residue that can get stuck in the sockets. Scrambled eggs might be wise to avoid for the first couple of days. Soups (without "pieces"), purees, yoghurt, ice creams and ice lollies... but you'll be surprised how soon you can manage more substantial foods.

I'd add arnica and neurofen.

Oh, and I definitely second the suggestion of prunes (or at least prune juice).

Any narcotic painkiller will stop you up terribly.

Fresh pasta in soup.

And get some good strong painkillers in just in case of complications, esp if it's going into a weekend. I got dry socket which is unusual but fucking agony.

I had one lower wisdom tooth removed. It was impacted and surgery was complicated so due to the severe swelling and bruising I was on liquids and very soft foods for 2 weeks. (I lived on soup, full cream milk, jelly, ice-cream, mashed potato and grated cheese.) Some people I know we're back on solids within a few days! :)
