Hi Mumsnet!
You've all been so brilliant in the past with advice & suggestions.
Weekend in Camden planned for weeks & weeks with one of my best friends from another part of UK. She has today been struck down with horrendous sickness bug. Feel so gutted that she can't make it. She's in a really bad way. Really feel for her.
Hotel booked. Family looking after DD. Neighbour looking after dog.
I have nobody to take her place due to the short notice but feel like I really want to go but feel a bit bad..and guilty...but also still bit excited & like I'm 25 again. Want to make the best from an unexpected & cramp situation...
Am nearly 40. Exhausted. Single parent. Never get 'weekends off'
I am currently doing O.L.D... Should I try & meet up with someone in the eve?
Really into health & fitness so thinking gym, maybe yoga In the day.
Am taking DD up on the train tomorrow to my sisters. Free woman from 3pm... WWYD?
Not sure why I feel guilty. AIBU to still go?

Go go go and enjoy!
Enjoy your favourite foods, drinks and a lovely walk around. Have a look in time out magazine and see if there's anything on that takes your fancy perhaps, although always plenty to see.
Have a lovely time Flowers

Come on down!

Theatre, shopping, a meal out, maybe browse a market or visit the Tate?

London is a fun city to visit solo.

I'm going next week for 1 night just to meet my sister for a flying visit! I'm leaving on the earliest flight I could get and have planned whole day of wandering about the British library and V&A, all things that I don't get doing when I go with DH or DD. DS is of the same mind as me, so I'll happily go with him Grin

Oh never mind the gym!! I'd love a weekend alone in London! Have a look online at what exhibitions are on, find a nice pub and enjoy a relaxed meal with some nice wine, see what shoes are on, get lost in harrods. God I'm so jealous Wink

Go go go!
London is great and no one cares if you are on your own.
Don't bother with the gym, walk around the shops, relax, walk in the parks, go to a bar at lunch time, watch a musical and enjoy not having to look after anyone else.
Lucky you Smile

We stayed in Camden last Xmas. Market good for a wander to look at all the tie dye! I introduced my 8 year old dd to it. I spent a lot of time there between 16-20!

There's some food stalls just by market / Camden lock.

GO! You will be fine, I've done it since I was 19. Every time life is utterly shit or I have the raving arseache, I fuck off to london and spend all day walking round museums.

Don't feel guilty!

Go and have a wonderful time!

Go for a walk in a park and take a book and a picnic of lovely things.

Hire a Boris bike and go for a cycle.

Wander round one of the museums at your own pace.

Go have afternoon tea or a wonderful meal.

Go the the theatre or the cinema or to a concert.

Go get a fancy blow dry it a manicure.

Wander round very expensive shops a d window shop (or buy something)

Go to Hamleys and get Christmas ideas for DD.

Have a huge, hour long bubble bath in the hotel room with wine and chocolate.

Going away on your own is amazing You'll have a great time.

Of course still do it, why wouldn't you! I am on maternity leave (from my job in central London, live in zone 5) and I still go at least once a week to meet friends and have a wander around the museums. In the evening, see if you can get to see a show or something.

Def go. You'll regret it if you don't. Try a yoga class, there are lots of interesting ones in central London. Def go and see a show. Try a sushi bar. You will really enjoy it!

For drop in afternoon tea without a queue, I recommend Liberty. If you want to really spoil yourself, you might find you can get a table somewhere at late notice as you are on your own! Sketch is great! They had something going on on the John Lewis roof over the summer too, I believe :)

The weather shouldn't be too wet - go for a run in Hyde Park if you want to keep fit.

Camden is a brisk walk up hill to primrose hill, home of the so called prim ro hill set, but its beautiful, walk up to the top of the hill, enjoy the view, sit in one of the gorgeous coffee shops...and then - walk to hampstead, equally gorgeous... then central London
