AIBU?

AIBU - just saw my cleaner clean the loo with a cloth and then use it in another room on my bath!

Was talking to my cleaner as I usually change beds etc while she's here, went to talk in one bathroom and she was cleaning the loo with a bright orange cloth.
Went downstairs to make us tea, she's now in out ensuite and using the same cloth on our bath. I cannot be 100% sure as we have 2 of these cloths in the bag but I will look later to see if the other one has been used.
She comes from an agency so I can just ring the agency and cancel her.
I am a spineless twat and should probably just go up and ask her though shouldn't I? I have clearly told her to use one cloth in each bathroom as we have 4 kids and there's always some virus lurking but she thinking of it she can't do that because there's only ever 2 cloths out out to be washed.
I feel slightly ill.
Someone help me phrase it so I don't sound rude??

Surely this is quite a straight forward conversation?

Go put your big girl pants on.

Next she will do the kitchen with it.

Maybe she rinsed out out before using it on the bath. Is she not using products that would kill germs anyway?

That is pretty gross if it is the same cloth. Just ask her though, problem solved!

And give her more cloths if you want her to use more

I'm worried she then used that one cloth on the sinks too! It was down the loo for gods sake!! I'm going to have to go up and be assertive (I'm shit at being assertive!) ...

Why didn't you say something there and then if you saw her do it? Confused

Meh. Pretty sure our cleaner uses the same cloth too and we've not caught anything nasty yet.

But if it bothers you that much, just ask her to use separate cloths for the toilet and bath. I think you asking her to use one cloth for each bathroom is a little confusing.

And she has a massive bag of cloths, seriously about 10-15 in there along with lots of cleaning products etc.

Have colour coded cloths.

Pmsl, quick sack her immediately!! Go clean your own bogs.

For god's sake, just go and talk to her.

"I've put some rolls of kitchen towel in bathroom cupboard to use when cleaning loos"
(I'm assuming this is the loo rather than the inside of it. If it's for the inside, can you buy the toilet duck 'brush' with disposable pads so she doesn't need to use any cloths at all, but I'm scared of bringing up the mumsnet loo brush thing ducks for cover)

Absolutely disgusting, but I have a fear of cross-contamination. I bin rubber gloves as soon as I clean the loo and I have no tea towels in the house, just in case anyone else might use the same tea towel for drying their hands as dishes (which is very unlikely anyway, as I don't really trust or allow anyone else to wash up, as I don't believe most people do it well enough for my standards).

I have actually often thought if I were rich enough to afford a cleaner, I wouldn't let them clean my bathroom just in case they might do what you have spotted your cleaner doing! So your post confirms I am right !

yanbu that's grim. Talk to her or just buy colour coded cloths and give her them next time and say you'd like the toilets done with the blue (or whatever) cloth and only the toilet.

Hate summer we do have 2 orange cloths so I was going to check what was left for the wash as I can't believe a (paid!) cleaner would actually do this. Maybe I'm overreacting though from these posts?

Call 101 and have it logged.

Excuse the pun.

I'm a cleaner myself and I generally use a cloth/ scrubbing bad for toilet and a separate cloth for the rest of the bathroom I don't use the same stuff to clean my toilet then sink bath at home so I wouldn't do it in other people's homes.
I would speak to your cleaner and then if it dosent change then ring the agency

dementedpixie · 15/09/2016 14:25

I can't believe you bin gloves after one use, what a waste! I think you have some issues with cleanliness that are beyond normal

Report
Janus · 15/09/2016 14:26

Sleep, I do clean my own bogs thank you, every bloody day. But if you have a cleaner for a whole 2 hours a week to help, they do do that too if they are doing the bathroom!!

YANBU I wouldn't like that either, but just check and if it's the case then just ask her not to do it again!

I always use disposable cloths/pads for loos and throw after each clean anyway.

As a hospital cleaner I will say I agree it is gross and not something we do. She should either have colour coded cloths OR same cloth acceptable but the last thing cleaned is the loos.

Report
Statelychangers · 15/09/2016 14:29

Give her a cloth for the toilet! I use disposable wipes.

Report
CremeEggThief · 15/09/2016 14:30

I don't actually, dementedpixie. I use them all week for kitchen jobs, then bathroom once a week, doing taps, soap dish, toothbrush mug, sink, bath, and finally loo, before they're binned.
