To wonder why people put deodorant on at night?

I have just got back from the gym. Almost everyone who came into the changing room from the shower put deodorant on as they got dressed. It's late(ish) evening! I can't understand why anyone would put deodorant on at night? I shower and leave it off till I shower in the morning!! Please say I'm not alone?

I always put deodorant on after a shower - you sweat loads at night!

It's only 9pm! Maybe they're all off to a bar or somewhere? (Wistful memories of not getting home till 12 or later)

I don't think I could raise any interest in what deodorant habits other people have, sorry.

It's best to put anti-perspirants on at night so it has time to settle into the pores, it then works better the next day. Also for a lot of people it's just a 'feeling fresh' thing.

If you put deodorant on you'll just sweat somewhere else tbh

I use one that goes on at night, and shower it off in the morning. It lasts up to 72 hours, apparently, though I tend to use it every other day. It seemed odd at first, but I find it works really well.

Some deodorants actually specify they work best applied at night. As in that's the application for the following day, not to keep you fresh overnight.
I couldn't bring myself to skip the morning post-shower application though.

I sometimes go out after the gym.
One of my dc's goes to the gym at night before work.
Both need deodorant.
Then a night like tonight and it's still in the 20's I sweat buckets.
Not everyone has a shower in the morning.

If I neglected to put deodorant on at 9, my armpits would smell in an hour. I've definitely got sweatier with age!

If I don't put deodorant on at night I sweat loads and stink when I get up. In fact I'm one of the unfortunate people who stinks after a couple of hours. I do shower again and reapply in the morning but if I didn't at night ... well ... My poor husband! My poor sheets!

Because I'm perimenopausal and often wake up in the night drenched in sweat - and often don't have the opportunity for a shower until after I've got DS2 to school (by which point, I've often sweated a whole lot more - and make that after dinner, in school holidays because I have little chance of hopping in the shower with one child to look after and exponentially less opportunity with two of them to to prevent from killing each other - the most I can hope for is a quick wipe with a wet cloth with them around). If I'm then expecting a 9:30am delivery (back to school days, again), it's nice to know I can get as far as 10am and not stink so badly that the poor delivery driver faints.

I wouldn't want to sweat and then get in my bed like that. Or then go to have sex and be sweaty. I also don't like feeling damp from swearing so use deodorant. Also if you don't wear deodorant and sweat it can make some of your tops smell no matter how much you wash them.

The sure one I use says to apply in the evening

There's a clue in the name - deodorant masks smells - odour -whereas an antiperspirant might stop sweating.

I couldn't sleep with no deodorant! I would feel sweaty and stinky all night. I put on deodorant after every single wash straight away,

It would never occur to me to put deodorant on for bed!

I really can't believe how many people think that a deodorant will stop sweating! Use an antiperspirant product and then use perfume/perfume spray to fragrance yourself!

One word: napisan.

Orange never heard of it thanks.

iago, I think most people do use antiperspirant but just say deodorant although we are aware of the difference.
