In my area we have about 4 pools only 2 have baby pools tried to go swimming today told its booked up with schools everyday until 2 there would then be no point in going as I have to do school run

I asked about the other pool there booked up from 10 to 3 wtf I couldn't even go in the big pool as it had lane swimming and the othe location had swim a robics

Not very public really if no one but clubs and schools who have booked a year in advance get to use the pool

Anyone else having this issue or just me I just want to take my baby swimming during the week while there are no bigger children jumping around Ect

Completely agree. It's a nightmare, and why I shell out for gym membership (although the aquarobics is still an issue if I want to swim with dd, at least it's only an hour three days a week)

Why not contact your local council and enquirer when their provision for public use of the baby pool is, and give your feedback on the current timetables.

Our public pool has schools in during term time but not all day. Do they have a timetable?

Not just. I live in South East London and the organisation "Better" had a lot of public money to set up all the local leisure centres and pools and lo and behold-can now rarely swim with my 1 year old as booked up weekly with schools and all day Saturday for classes. Even on a Sunday, only half the children's pool is 'open' and only for a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the afternoon.
It's very annoying!! 😡

Yes it's pretty much all day until to she glibly said well you can use it from 2 on wards I have to do school run then they have non school swim lessons

Even in the summer Hoildays they have lane swimming a clubs all day and only 1.5 hour use of the poll I thought once the Hoildays were over it may get better but it's worse

I think I may just use the private gym pool sigh
My council tax is paying for somthing I can't really get any use from

Kitty, depending on where you are, West Wickham's teaching pool is often clear. They also do parent/baby sessions incredibly cheaply, much cheaper than the privately run courses!

You can use it, just not when suits you.

Its a bit like me complaining I can't use the pool as its only open when I'm a work.
Tough for us both but not really anything to be complained about.

My local pool closes most Saturday and Sunday afternoons for private birthday parties. There's a baby pool and an adult pool. It's really annoying as that's when most families are likely to want to take the kids swimming.

Oh fab it's open 1.5 hours a day in the Hoildays for families

For 1 hour in the morning and I hour in the evening before non school swimming lessons

The reality is pools these days need to pay their way. If being open to mums and babies from 9am-12 brought in lots of money then I'm sure they'd do just that.

if you're that bothered about this write to the company who owns the pool or to the local council stating your case. You never know you may get somewhere.

They even closed off the family changing bit for the schools so even if you did get there for the hour in the morning you would have no fucking were to change

Is making me quite cross tax payers monies have been used for this pools so it's should be open none would be saying oh well suck it up if the libuary was closed for private reading most of the day leaving you a a few hours a day for true public use

Don't worry dh is emailing the local MP as we speak I have a pool at the bottom of my road can't use that so I drive to the next one only to discover can't use the pool

School children have to swim somewhere and most schools don't have there own pools.

The reason why I said to speak to them OP is my mum has great form and success due to writing to her MPs and companies etc.

Maybe you could do a post about this for MN as obviously with you and Bedsheets etc it isn't just both of you that have this problem.
