Bathmats!!!!

I am of the opinion that you should dry you feet before placing your feet on the bathmat.

DP seeks to think the bathmat is there to partially dry his feet and then splodge around the rest of the bathroom leaving it soaking.

Give him his due he drys the floor (with his towel Confused but that's another thread) but if I'm second in when I step out the shower it's onto a soggy cold bathmat.

Who is being unreasonable here?

He is. I hate soggy bathmats. Lucky for me DH hates them even more.

he is.
if he wants to dry his feet like that he needs to put a towel down.
I would hide the mat for my personal use

We have 2,one to keep your feet cosy on the stone floor and the other is a bit thicker than a towel and we step on to that with wet feet and it gets washed with other towels.

YANBU. DP has clearly not understood the sacredness of the bathroom. I would blame his mother. Wink

It's a tricky one. I agree with you if my DH is having first shower. If I am first out of the shower though, I agree with your DH. Grin

He is.

Why not get a couple of small old towels to put on it, to soak up most of the water, though?

How does he get the bathroom floor wet, though? Doesn't he wrap up on the towel before coming out?

Frogers · 12/09/2016 08:18

Oh I've no idea how he does it. If DD needs in for a wee post shower pre clean up he has to lift her over to the toilet because it's so wet!

is he not using the shower screen Confused

That's CRAZY!!!
How does he transport so much water?!!

Turn shower off
Grab towels
Remain in lovely warm shower area
Quick towel down of body to ensure you don't freeze your arse off when the usual air temp hits you
Wrap your towel around you
Step out of shower onto the mat.

What about that is so hard?!! Confused
DH is a hairy monster. Hair holds a lot of water. He doesn't turn the bathroom floor into a swamp!!!

My DH does this too and it really bugs me. Your DH is clearly in the wrong.

How do you manage to dry your feet before stepping onto the bath mat? Surely that's what it's there for? I have stepped onto the bathe mat straight from the bath or shower all my life. I am not always first into the shower, but I have never noticed that the bath mat is cold or soggy. Maybe that is because we have a lovely thick one from IKEA, but to be perfectly honest, I have no recollections of the bath may being cold and soggy even when I was a kid! That is the weirdest thing I've ever heard and YABU

I am physically unable to dry feet before leaving showe.

You could move the towels closer?

I dont have a bathmat.

So you dry your feet while standing on the wet and slippery shower floor?
Sorry OP but to me YABU Smile

DH and I have the same technique: you step on the bath mat, grab a towel and dry yourself including feet.
When I am second, I can usually see his wet foot marks on the mat but it is not soaking wet.

Worth noting that the bath mat is only used post-shower, once we are dry we hang it and use another one which always stays on the floor (but never gets wet).

I honestly have no idea what he does or how he manages it!

It's easy. Stick foot up on the side of bath towels under and dry, step one foot onto bath mat and repeat with other foot. If you have a shower cubicle then put a towel on top of the mat and dry.

I step onto the bath mat I'll be honest. It does get washed but it's never been that wet and soggy I'd notice when OH has been in before me. I do occasionally put a towel down on it before I get out but otherwise it's straight onto the mat. I would rather that than wobble around trying to dry my feet in a slippy bath.

We don't have one outside the shower cubicle, just put a towel down for thatz

Frogers when you say "Stick foot up on the side of bath towels under" are you standing on one foot on the wet surface?
I would be scared to fall down... or are you holding onto something?

Report
DollyMcDolly · 12/09/2016 09:24

I thought bathmats were for drying the feet. YABU

Report
SouthDownsSunshine · 12/09/2016 09:25

You're both wrong. The mat is to stand on whilst drying off. So it should get soggy, but it prevents the rest of the bathroom and upstairs getting wet.

My DH thinks it's simply a step out of the shower, so we get wet footprints all over the upstairs. Gives me the rage.

That should have read stick foot up on side of the bath, towel under and dry...

I accept not achievable for all people but would be for DP.

I sometimes hold onto something to steady myself if the bath is particularly slippy (bloody hair conditioner) but otherwise I don't. I've never slipped, nor has anyone else in my family that I know of.

YABU! I have a cubicle shower so your method would involve me standing like a flamingo. Bath mat is to dry feet and that's more than just a partial drying method
