carpet leaking glue?

Our carpet is beige and I noticed brown spots are appearing.

They're not stains. They just sprouted.

Could those be adhesive from underneath?

Where is the carpet? More likely to mould or something else. Can you post a photo?

It's near the door to the terrace, kitchen/living room. We live in a one bedroom flat.

Can I spray bleach on it?

That's really odd. Most carpets can be bleached now but I'd test it somewhere that won't be seen first. Have you tried to scrub them out yet?

I tried a carpet cleanser but did not do anything.

It's more grayish than black.

How long has the carpet been down? Do the spots feel wet? I doubt it's adhesive, I don't think they glue carpets down do they?

We are renting so I really don't know if it's glued down. But we were the first renters and the carpet has been down maximum two years.

It's been there for a year now. New ones are sprouting that's why I got alarmed.

Don't use bleach. Most carpets cannot be bleached now! That only applies to polypropylene carpets and we don't know what kind of carpet this is. OP have you tried putting a tissue or loo roll over the marks and then standing on it to see if whatever is will transfer to the tissue? You might be able to tell whether it's wet or oily.

Is there underlay between the carpet and the floor do you know? I am wondering whether it is adhesive reacting with the sunlight through the window. I had this happen with a vinyl bathroom flooring, but it just looked yellow around the edges of the room where the glue had been sprayed.

If you are sure this is not something caused by either of you then flag it up to the landlord now.
