AIBU?

To be dog broody?

Grin

It's a beautiful day and the sun is shining and I want to run across the hills with a dog.

I have no dog Sad

So AIBU to make a huge soppy fuss of dogs I meet on my travels and not care when they place their muddy paws on my shoulders and stare lovingly into my eyes ... ?

Yes yabu

This is mn. You should hate dogs and wish they were muzzled, kept tightly on a lead as close to the owners side as possible and rant and rave if a dog even dares to look at you Wink

Not unreasonable at all. I will join you....

I am dog broody all the time, we love spotting different breeds! We also borrow a dog which works brilliantly for us!

I look at other people's dogs covetously so that the owners look nervous. It's a bit like being the newly divorced woman in the room where the wives nervously protect their husbands...

I'm not going to steal your dog, I just really want a dog...

I actually love it when dogs run up to me Blush

To be fair I've only been jumped up at twice I think, and one of those was just a pup (a big pup, but still a pup!) The other was just over excited and keen to share the love as it were. Both owners apologised profusely.

Far be it from me to think MN occasionally exaggerates Wink

Shock how dare you! I'll have you know dogs are satans hell hounds..

Cats are satans owners

In fact animals that come into close contact with people in general are just digusting

Another one who loves it when dogs run up to me! Never had a bad encounter so maybe I'm just lucky. Did have a tiny pug puppy run up to me the other day, owner ran over and apologised. I was a gooey mess, such a cute puppy!

You can have my hyper energetic, greedy, lick-you-to-death, tail wagging lab Grin

I have a four month old pup and still dog broody. Would have another one tomorrow if I could.

The main reasons not to are that dpup is too young and dh says no. I am working on dh whilst waiting for dpup to grow up. Grin

I greet all dogs when we are out. We were at an agricultural show yesterday and there were tons of dogs, especially spaniels. It was amazing.

I can lend you mine if you want. She loves people and when she wags her tail she wags her whole body Grin

But

She hates other dogs so she's a menace

I am totally dog broody too after losing our 26 year old mutt 3 years ago. But I have a long term health condition which means some days I would be unable to walk a dog and dh would end up responsible... he is completely avoiding the subjectGrinHmm

balletcats your cats will forgive you. One of mine is now best friends with the dog (actually, their interspecies love affair is a little creepy at times).

I also take the opportunity to fuss any dog, which is within my evil clutches! Mwahaha! I love dogs but we don't have the right lifestyle for one at the moment.

I never fuss a dog who jumps up, dogs must have all four paws on the floor whilst being fussed. I like to try and encourage good doggy manners. (It generally works too even with the most excitable dogs. They're such smart cookies!)

op what about a pug? Perfect for apartment or small home and can be brought up cat friendly once your felines get used to him haha

I'm dog broody too. I got myself some dogginess in my life by fostering a greyhound. Not sure I could do it again though as I did have a decent blub when he left for his new home Sad
