NRTFT - too long!
How rude! To me that means: All your opinions are irrelevant read mine mine I tell you mine it's the only one that counts.

OP posts:

Actually I think sometimes people simply want to respond to the OP, not the 15 people having a fight.

Hopefully when they do that Dolly, 3 they've at least read all the OP's posts.

It's the posters that don't rtft and so miss all the OP's updates that get to me.

Not sure where the 3 came from!

That's a good point Lemon.

Haha, yesterday I read an OP who said there were too many replies on her own thread for her to read them all! That did strike me as bloody rude. Grin

There's often a lot of pointless repetition in threads so sometimes understandable to not rtft. the best thing is to enable the option that highlights the op's posts so you can at least read the messages from them quickly.

MyVaginaIsSparticus · 11/09/2016 11:01

If someone asks a question I really don't see why I have to read 984 posts about random shite. Sometimes you miss out because the op dripfed loads of info but mostly it doesn't matter

ShiroiKoibito · 11/09/2016 11:05

i read all answers on my threads, and on long threads i will scroll through stopping to read OP ones

burdog · 11/09/2016 11:11

It's aggravating when long after the OP admitted they were wrong and posted about how they're going to do something about it when some clueless wonder wades in and calls them a dick all over again.

Have you cancelled the cheque though?

I read the first page and the last two pages. I've given up on my uniform thread, it's too long!

I@m still relatively new to MN. I still don't know how to use all the emoticons below or put a line through what I've written. If a thread has 10+ pages is there an easier way to read the OP updates than just scrolling through? I don't always have loads of time to RTFT (I've worked out what that means!) I wondered if there was some magic way of just pulling out the OP's posts? It's not cos I think everyone elses views are irrelevant. But often a lot of them are so obnoxious I just ignore them!

Ah! Just figured out what 'NRTFT' means! I think:

Not Read The Full Thread

Do I get a prize? :D

Report
Queenbean · 11/09/2016 14:06

MrsMozart, depending upon the tone you can interpret it as "read the full thread" or "read the fucking thread" Smile

WankingMonkey · 11/09/2016 14:13

I often respond to the original question, the go back to read the thread..always have. I try not to on here now though after being told its ignorant..but I don't want to read through 20 pages of bunfights tbh :S

I do check for OPs posts though to see if they have been dripfeeding or if OP is the full story

Sometimes there's 10+ pages, I don't think it's unreasonable to not want to read through all that. The ops replies should at least be read though which is easy enough to do.

Report
Ditsyprint40 · 11/09/2016 14:14

I agree, but sometimes it is sooooo long I simply don't have time but really want to respond to the OP. It's a shame you can't just see the OPs posts.

Report
Sparklingbrook · 11/09/2016 14:17

If you CBA to RTFT just move on. If it's pages long the chances are whatever you wanted to say has already been said anyway.

Zombie threads always show the people who don't read the whole thread. Replying to the OP from 5 years ago or something.

Report
wombattoo · 11/09/2016 14:21

It is annoying when someone posts that they haven't read the thread and they repeat something that has been said numerous times.
Also irritating is if the OP says something like, 'I have 3 DC' then posters repeatedly asking 'How many DC do you have'. Read the bloody post.
Sorry, turned into a bit of a rant.

Oh yes. Pour your heart out and then get told to use paragraphs. Hmm

I did make more of an effort before I had to re reg during the Jeffrey incident.

It was much easier when you saw a while thread on one page to see all the pp's posts. Now I have to trawl pages and wait for them all to load. Do the older posters realise that?

JassyRadlett · 11/09/2016 15:22

If someone asks a question I really don't see why I have to read 984 posts about random shite.

To see if the question's already been answered 983 times, or to get a feel for whether the conversation has moved on? I think reading the first two and last two pages is a bare minimum.

Sometimes you miss out because the op dripfed loads of info but mostly it doesn't matter

How would you even know if you haven't read the thread? Grin
