I remember seeing a stuck cable car from an adjacent one on a separate track a few hundred feet away, in Austria, about 30 years ago. A bloke (or possibly two) had climbed through a ceiling shaft-type thing, like in lifts, and it was being hand-cranked along the cable from the top of the car. Perhaps they just don't have the staff these days?

What I'd do for the toilet would be the least of my worries stuck. Being what 1,000s of feet up overnight. I'd be birthing about 10 litters of kittens.

I understand that up until it got dark they were rescuing people so I would assume they prioritised children in that operation.

It must be extremely frightening. I can't imagine anyone is going to get any sleep. Poor souls, let's hope they stay safe until morning.

It's 05.23 in France. They're resuming the rescue operation at 6.30. I hope the next hour flies for them.
They'll always have a story to tell. That's for sure.

I've just read this story . At first I thought it was the big one that goes up aguille du midi: that was maybe the scariest thing I've ever done (including skydive). Those poor people.

They're the little pods (hold maybe half a dozen people) and they have never been staffed.

My understanding is that the cable cars are attached to two lines, not one. In the high winds the lines got tangled so the cars can't move. I'm amazed that they were allowimg the cable cars to run if it was that windy. Horrible for all concerned. I'm not sure how id cope, especially if i knew that, come morning, I'd have to climb out of the roof of a cable csr dangling hundreds of feet in the air and be winched off by helicopter.

Damsel I started to watch that movie about the ski lift and had to switch it off half way through as it was so gruesome.

I have just seen this, and it must be awful for these people. I cannot imagine how they'd have got through the night - I'd be in a terrible state.

The first aid workers will have taken little portable toilet things. Not move but better than nothingn. They will also have taken foil blankets and food etc.
