I have recently found out that my daughter shares a bed with her friend and her mum when she stays for sleepovers. My daughter is now 10 & has been staying over a few times a year since she's been 4. She is absolutely fine with it. I just don't know what to think. It was my daughter that told me out of the blue. I'm sure nothing untowards happens but I can't help think it's odd. I haven't mentioned it to the girls mum.

Perhaps your daughter isn't quite as happy about it as she used to be. Why else would she bring it up?

And no I wouldn't like it.

If your daughter is comfortable enough to talk about it in a relaxed way then I would not worry. It is a bit different though.

If it bothers you then say something surely?
If you're "sure nothing untoward happened" then why is it odd? Either you're bothered or you're not I'd have thought

maybe the other girl co sleeps with mum and doesn't have her own bed? does she stay over at yours?

Does the 10 year old not have her own bed then? Weird, if not. And your visiting daughter bunking in with the pair of them is bizarre. I'm sure there's nothing untoward, it is just really odd.

Thank you for responding. My daughters friend has her own bed but chooses to share with her mum-lots of children do this & it obviously has nothing to do with me. She sleeps in her own bed when she stays over at our house.

It's a bit overfamiliar innit.

YANBU, it's too familiar. No doubt lots of posters will be along to tell you it's perfectly fine but I wouldn't be happy about it at all. My DS co-slept with me until he was 7, but when he had friends/cousins etc to sleep over they had to sleep in his own bedroom. It's not a case of "anything untoward" happening for me, it just is really odd, and inappropriate for an adult to want to sleep with a child unrelated to them IMO.

My Neice at 11 slept over not long ago and slept in with me- she was a bit nervous about sleeping on her own. My 2 DS's slept in the same room too on the floor, it felt fun for us (DP was away) a bit like camping! She is family though x
