To ask what would you do with a £13k windfall?

On the back of another thread, just wondering what people would do if they unexpectedly came into that amount of money? I would be torn between sensible middle aged options like kitchens and cars and not sensible midlife crisis options like going on some worldwide trip. AIBU to ask WWYD?

I'd blow it then regret it

But I'd have fun

I'd get a cheapish car, a holiday, and a new kitchen floor smile

ilovesooty Wed 07-Sep-16 21:56:43

Pay off debts and put the rest towards a holiday.

SabineUndine Wed 07-Sep-16 21:56:46

Pay off debts and have a new kitchen.

NoCapes Wed 07-Sep-16 21:56:59

A new driveway!! grin

LaContessaDiPlump Wed 07-Sep-16 21:57:25

New driveway, obviously! grin

Loft conversion, realistically. It would make me very happy, so not a waste.

More IVF and a nice holiday.

New bathroom, spend some on 'stuff' and put anything left to mortgage. but then i'm about to move so house stuff is on my mind!

TheProblemOfSusan Wed 07-Sep-16 21:59:11

House deposit. All money must be used for worshipping the almighty house deposit.

(But actually a car) (but only a used one so I'd save a bit too)

PickleSarnie Wed 07-Sep-16 21:59:19

Botox.

New kitchen.

More botox if there's any money left over.

MakeMyWineADouble Wed 07-Sep-16 21:59:44

If I found it in my back garden deposit on a new house and then plastic surgery wink

acornsandnuts Wed 07-Sep-16 21:59:58

5k each in savings for the dcs.
1k on a personal trainer
2k on a holiday

Arsenicinthesugarbowl Wed 07-Sep-16 22:00:18

grin at the new driveways! I came looking for updates when I saw this. I would go on holiday somewhere amazing I think!

MsJuniper Wed 07-Sep-16 22:00:23

IVF.

Driveway if any spare.

Scribblegirl Wed 07-Sep-16 22:00:48

Blatant NC looking for ideas grin

EllenJanethickerknickers Wed 07-Sep-16 22:01:53

Am I sad? I'd put it in an ISA to help for my retirement.

OohMrDarcy Wed 07-Sep-16 22:02:01

I'd pay off my loan which would leave me £240 better off a month and then the rest would go into savings towards a holiday / house deposit.

Allergictoironing Wed 07-Sep-16 22:02:26

Pay off any debts, then stick it in a pension. I work in the industry, and it's scary just how many people don't save anything for retirement - state pension is minimal & you can't have a decent retirement just on that.

Domino20 Wed 07-Sep-16 22:03:12

Start a business.

BeastofCraggyIsland Wed 07-Sep-16 22:03:23

Travel; probably Antarctica which for 2 people for 3 weeks would easily use up the whole lot. Worth it though.

Scottishchick39 Wed 07-Sep-16 22:03:33

We won 20k on the lottery raffle and blew the lot on a car each and treats for the family.

greenscarves Wed 07-Sep-16 22:03:40

Ooh this is such an interesting variety of things to spend it on! Driveways and botox hadn't occurred to me but its the loft conversion that has really got me thinking. It would be a nice amount to have land in your lap but putting it into a mortgage would feel like throwing it away (irrationally I know).
