AIBU?

To think I shouldn't have gotten a parking ticket!?

I parked in a car park today. I went to buy a ticket, it wasn't working. I tried card and cash. I went to pick up my son from nursery, after a bloody hard day at work (building works so couldn't park in normal bit). I had no clue what to do, I tried phoning the company (the number that's written on the machine) but was on hold for ages and no one was picking up, so I wrote a note and put it on my car, explaining that the machine wasn't working and I had the money, I told them where I was if they really needed the money (I didn't expect them to come and find me though) but I was just saying that it was obvious I wasn't trying to get out of paying Sad I know rules are rules, but it's just a bit depressing Sad

Is it a council car park, or a private contractor? Either way, you should definitely appeal. A letter stating exactly what you've stated here should be fine.

Go on Martin Lewis website if you need information on how to appeal. Sounds very unfair.

Robbing bastards!
Appeal! Show copy of phone bill to show you got through and were on hold etc.

Glad I'm not unreasonable!

I think I'll appeal then, thank you

Sounds like private. If so do not appeal or contact them at all. It is not legally enforceable. Ignore all letters and they will go away in the end.

I appealed a parking ticket earlier this year where I'd paid but selected the wring vehicle from the drop down list on my phone.

I won so well wort appealing.

Ignore floods as that is not always the case. Money saving expert or the pepipoo forums is where you need to go for current advice.

You deserve a fine for using the word "gotten".

Is that supposed to be funny Reality or are you just being a twat?

I appealed a parking ticket, over stayed by 10mins, had broken down. Was overturned. Worth doing.

Floods that isn't true any more, parking regs have been updated and advice is not to ignore now.

OP yes you should appeal, as you were physically unable to make payment due to their facility being out of service.

I'm going through this. Should I appeal or not? (We're at debt collectors letters stage). All the bloody train strikes shut down the small stations round our way so exerting has to drive to another station. I had to drinking at school / clubs etc so could only get to station for 8.30. All bays full. Spoke to station staff who said buy a ticket and as long as you don't block anyone you can park on the side out of the way. Got a ticket. Then another for parking in electric car bay 2 minutes early. J have paid for tickets on these days. DH thinks I should have just paid the ticket but I'm furious and want to make a stand. Thoughts?

That is the worst auto correct I have ever experienced. Apologies. Massive apologies. Will try to edit.

I agree Reality. But she also said "no clue" so must be American

BummyMummy77 · 06/09/2016 02:48

Not American. Americans don't say 'nursery' or 'bloody'.

Another example of Americanisms infiltrating our country then.

Op, definitely appeal.
I did, for those exact reasons: I had taken every 'reasonable' attempt/effort to pay/purchase a ticket. Was let off.

There's a pedants' corner dontcha know? Off you go.

OP, appeal the ticket!
