AIBU?

How long would you leave it until you do something about a 3 year old in a car?

What's the cut off age? I'm sitting in my car, another car had been here since I got here and it's been 30 mins now. Little boy/girl is crying in the car a couple of cars down, literally wailing. What should I do? Someone must be coming back in a bit. Child is about 3.

Where are you? Is it a proper car park for a shop or something - if so go and ask them to make an announcement.

Poor mite. Is it obvious where the car owner is (ie are you parked outside a shop)? This is the first time I have ever typed this, but maybe a quick call to 101 for advice.

Agree with pp's. Are there any shopspecific nearby?

It's a car park for a high street, so could be any shop there's about 30!

Store security or police. 3 is still a baby.

Get the car reg number and call the police anyway! Already half an hour! The parent or person in charge may have an accident or anything

X posts. I'd be calling 101 then.

Check the car and make sure that there isn't an adult in it. Then call the police.

I would also say police if it's already been that long.

Call 101 now. You've no idea how long she's been there. There's no need to leave a child in a car- if the parents get a rocket, so what.

What's the cut off point?! Is this a wind up? A 3 year old wailing in a car by itself for half an hour..? You seriously need advice?

If this is true, you should call 999 immediately.

30 minutes of wailing?! God, I reckon you've given it long enough, something could have happened to their mum, they could be hurt in a way you can't see (hand stuck somewhere or something) I'd probably ring police non emergency and then go and ask the child if they are okay while on the phone.

10 mins I would have waited before calling 101

Is it sunny there? If so ring 999. Kids die in hot cars.

Police. Now since its been half an hour already and the child is distressed.

Report
BrightOranges · 05/09/2016 15:35

Why is everyone saying police non-emergency?? 999 is fine to call. They will make the judgement of whether it's urgent or not. And this is.

So will 101!

I agree. Call 999. Thirty minutes is too long.
