I know it's an annual complaint; and with old age time passes quickly, but it's so depressing to see xmas stuff on sale now. I'm still clinging on to the idea it's still summer, it is expected to be in the mid 20s next week. Do people really want to start eating winter food now?

Yes even as a christmas lover I think it shouldn't be evident until after Halloween and November 5th. That's long enough.

I spotted them earlier along with the not so big tins of quality street. I also saw boxes of xmas cards in Clintons.

Mince pies are for life not just for Christmas

I quite fancy eating a mince pie now.

Maybe I'll pop down to the local Co-op and see if they're stocking them too.

Do the mince pies have Christmas pictures on them? I don't think if them as for Christmas only. My granny used to make them all year round.

I had a moment earlier when I thought Christmas ads had started on tv. Then I realised the dc were watching a film that was taped at Christmas off the tv. Phew! Not seen any mince pies yet I our co op but I doubt it will be long another local shop has Christmas biscuit selection boxes all year round but I think that is because they don't sell them all so they just keep them out.

My local bakery makes mince pies. All year round. I like to warm them up in the oven and serve with clotted cream. Heaven.

I tweeted them last year on 2nd September expressing surprise/horror that they had a Christmas stand with mince pies up. They did respond saying something along the lines of "but the first one is always the best" Hmm If you buy mince pies now, they'll be past their sell by date by Christmas.

I volunteer in a charity shop and we have a small range of CHristmas Cards out on display too.

IT'S ALL TOO EARLY. Promotion and retailing of anything overtly Christmassy should be banned until mid-November.

I hate summer and can't wait for nights to draw in, winter food, winter clothes and the Christmassy countdown. Any month ending in 'ember' is fair game!

The local Dobbie's was setting up their Christmas display last week - yep, in August. They did have the good grace to have a sign up apologising though Grin. Apparently the store had been chosen as a showcase store (or something) so they had to.

It was hot outside and my mind melted just a little.

Apparently, there's this thing where if you don't want to buy something, you just walk past and don't pick it up. It's amazing.

I noticed them too. FFS, it is way too early.

We have only recently got back from our summer break and schools are barely back. We too still want to hang on to at least the notion of summer for a little while yet.

It makes me feel like more of a Christmas humbug every year.
