AIBU to be thinking of booking summer 2017 holiday now?

We had a great holiday this year and it was fantastic value, 2 weeks in an apartment in the Italian lakes with wonderful views on a small private complex with a big swimming pool. It was one of the most relaxing holidays we've had, I enjoyed cooking and we had some lovely meals on the terrace, we played card games, watched films and the kids had a ball in the pool. We had a car for the duration and did a bit of sightseeing but it was very relaxed, one dc has autism and learning difficulties so we have to pace ourselves by what they can cope with.
I'm seriously considering rebooking now but I've never gone back to the same place before! Nothing can touch it value wise - flights, car hire, insurance and accommodation came in at under £2000 in total for the family for 2 weeks in August!!!
Flights are on sale now at a good price with BA and the owner offered us a discount if we go back and book direct with him - I just feel really odd booking this early!!!!
Talk some sense into me!

Booking early saves money, you'd be crazy not to.

Book it. We have booked ours for next year. We usually do the separate flights/accomodation thing but we booked a package holiday next year as its a specific type of holiday for the children and the travel agent said that availability will decrease rapidly as they don't have Tunisia/Egypt and far less are travelling to Turkey. Therefore demand for Spain Italy etc has gone through the roof.

Do it! We've done that a few times (rebooked the same within weeks of returning) and never regretted it. Doesn't mean you have to do the same over and over again every year.

YANBU. If you know it suits you then why not? Booking the flights early makes a big difference too.

We went to the lakes last year- BA flights there and back (business class on the way back too as it was only £15 each more!), three nights at a nice hotel in Verona and a week in a lovely apartment at the lakes plus a fancy hire car. Cost under £2500 for the four of us- a week at a 3* self catering place in menorca or a ferry and a static caravan with eurocamp were showing as more expensive that that!

Definitely book now, I'm looking for next year already as we missed out on a holiday this year, myself and dh had last 2 weeks off in August, but dd 16 had exam results and college enrolment right in the middle, older dd 18 started a new job and her request for holiday was refused, so trying to organise everyone for next year now

I've already booked a couple of things for next year as we wanted to go to a specific place which gets booked up well in advance. I'd say go for it.

I'm going to email the owner and check availability! It does make sense it just feels strange. I spent yesterday looking at other options and was shocked at some of the prices and didn't find anything better without it being so much more money and it didn't seem worth the extra.

We've booked our 2017 holiday and we're not going on our 2016 holiday for a while yet. YANBU if you've got a great deal and it'll save you money in the long run. Also it's something to look forward to.

I look after rental properties in the Algarve and took my first 2017 booking a few weeks ago, so no, it's not too early to make sure you get the accommodation and dates that you want

I'm not usually one for rebooking the same place as once the glow has worn off in a few weeks I often want to do something else instead. But I have got a habit of keeping an eye on availability of places we've liked and making a last minute booking (usually in the UK so no flights to worry about). I think go for this one, it sounds perfect and you could be kicking yourself if you miss out.

If you have a DC with autism wont it be massively easier to take them somewhere familiar? I actually like going to same place too as I don't have to get hang of shops etc.

We went to Italian lakes for a week in July and flights from easyjet were under £200 for the three tickets. So the only thing that would make me hesitate if I was you would be waiting for the budget airlines to release the routes.

Not necessarily, one of mine has autism and he likes exploring new places just as much as going back to familiar ones. The main difference is that he needs to know where he is going and when, unexpected delays and changes of plan stress him out.

Where is it? I want to go to Italy with DP and without children (sensible sixthformers, can look after themselves and my sister lives a minute's walk away) for a week or so before the end of September.

We flew with Easyjet this year from Gatwick, I have seen an early booking offer with BA which means we could fly from Heathrow for £450 including luggage for all of us. It's a bit more than we paid this year but is a much more convenient airport for us and the flight times are better.

We came back from holiday one year and the following day I booked next year's. Lake Garda, 'twas beautiful and the last family holiday we had. Pool, trips round the lake, walks, trip to Venice etc.

Probably the best holiday we had.
