AIBU?

To think that waiting your turn, means just that!

I stood patiently waiting for my turn to be served for new bedroom doors in a shop today (think order station) and needed some extra information before I placed the order.

Well this woman came out of nowhere and started asking questions about missing parts of her kitchen, the member of staff then left my order and started answer questions to which the woman had no interest. I think she thought the staff could Magic the missing part out of him air.

So this shit went on for 1-2 mins whilst I'm stood (and desperate for a wee) before I actually mentioned to the member of staff that I was here first,

AIBU to think you cannot barge in when people are being served and expect the staff member to give them full attention?

Agree but the thick staff member should have told her to stand in line.

I hate this sort of thing and am increasingly unable to keep my gob shut about it.

The other day in Aldi I was behind a man and his teenage SN son who had a massive trolley full. He was hassled and unloading onto the belt as fast as he could so I waited behind with my basket. Lady behind me starts to unpack before he'd finished and before i'd started. My mouth opened before my brain engaged and I may have been a little direct in my communication with her.

It always amazes me when people think they can just barge in. I was waiting in the very long queue to see St Peters in Rome with my son and a woman and her friend barged in front of us with a "don't mind us - we just want to pop in and see the church". What did she think everyone else was doing??

We had this at a small, chaotic Greek airport recently. There we all were (probably hundreds of people), patiently queueing to get through security checks. A man and woman just walked up to the front of the queue! Unfortunately for them I was at the front. 'OH NO YOU BLOODY DON'T', I shouted. 'WHAT THE HELL DO YOI THINK THE REST OF US ARE DOING? LINING UP WAITING FOR THE CONGA TO START?' People sniggered and they shuffled off.

I was at a shop counter and the person behind answered the phone, wandered off with phone in hand and then someone else asked if I was being served and I said 'nope' and then she walked off.

I then asked for an array of things that I was hoping to get - did they have this and did they have that. She walked about getting all the things that I asked for. Once I was done, I said that if she hadn't have taken the call I'd have bought all those, but as she saw fit to serve a customer not in the shop as opposed to one right in front of her, I'd go elsewhere and then I walked out. Never went back. Spent my 'not insignificant' money in another shop.

I would have said 'excuse me, there is a queue' and continued to talk (over her) to the sales assistant. No need to engage any further than that.

People can be so rude. I tolerate this less and less. I was at the vet the other day and a woman pushed straight past the queue and stood at the front desk beside a person already being attended. A second receptionist arrived and the woman, who had barged in asked the man standing next to her if he was next - apparently he was waiting for something and not in the queue. At the same time, the receptionist asked who was next and I said plainly, that it was me. The woman, who'd jumped the queue stared at me as though I was incredibly rude and I told her I was next and she had barged in front of everyone. I'm going to do this a darn sight more often. I usually meekly let it happen.

Please do soft! It also works well if someone barges to the front of the queue at an ATM Grin.

I think it happens a lot around the Vatican, mainly older women slipping into the queue hoping no one will say anything and pretending they don't understand when asked wtf they are doing!

Really can't see what's wrong with this Hmm

I often start unpacking my stuff onto the belt before the person in front of me has finished. It's not rocket science - you just leave a bit of space in front of yours so that they can still get their stuff on.

I'm not going to stand there and wait, weighted down by a full basket, whilst someone else fannies about in front of me.

Have to say, some of the other replies are fucking fantasy completely cringeworthy and probably made the sayer look much more of a tit that the person doing the queue-jumping. 'OH NO YOU DON'T' shouted at someone, really? 'Excuse me, there's a queue here' [death stare] is sufficient without trying to draw the eye of everyone around Hmm

I assume that's not what you meant?!

Small children who need the loo desperately are the only acceptable queue jumpers. Otherwise people just need to learn some patience.

Love the conga comment!

I have to laugh at this because it's so ridiculous. The point about a queue is that you wait until the person in front of you has done what they need to. It is incredibly rude and annoying when people do what you do. You are hassling the person in front of you - who has priority - into action they're not ready to take (for whatever reason) and then making assumptions about how much space they need.

Try putting the basket on the floor Wink.

Sunnybanker The OP was between the person who hadn't finished loading and the person who started prematurely loading the belt. Surely you wouldn't start putting your things on the belt if you were the 3rd person - completely ignoring the existence of the person in front of you?
If your basket's so heavy, set it down, or use a trolley Hmm

YANBU ignore pusher-in and tell staff to finish one customer at a time.

Now that is what's ridiculous. I'm hassling someone into 'action they're not ready to take'?! If they're not ready to unpack their shopping onto the belt, they shouldn't be in the queue for a start!

If I leave a big enough space for the person in front of me to comfortably get all their products onto the belt, I can't see anything wrong at all with emptying my basket onto the end of the belt rather than standing there holding it.
