AIBU?

To ask if a Dyson V8 is really worth the price tag?

I have decided that I need a handheld vacuum to follow the toddler crumb machine around with.

The Dyson V8 looks amazing, but it's so expensive. Is it r worth it?
I also looked at the v6 but it seems their battery life is much lower than the v8.

Anyone got one and can give an honest opinion?

I've got the v6 and I love it but it sounds like all its flaws are fixed with the v8. It's amazing, even vacuums up massive pieces of food.

If I didn't already have the v6 and I could afford it, I would.

Can you afford it?

We've got a V6, it's glorious - very powerful, very portable. Battery life is bit short, but if that's improved on the v8, then go for it.

I've had the V8 for about a month and I love it! I find it so much quicker than a corded vacuum. I've never managed to run it out of charge unless I've had it on 'turbo power mode' and I have a 5 bedroom house with a mixture of carpets and hard floors. I went for the V8 because of the longer battery power.
My only niggle is that you can't transfer tools from your other obsolete Dysons. We have an old house with an unevenly tiled kitchen floor and the V8 tool catches on the edges of the tiles, whereas the hard floor tool that came with my Dyson cylinder was more tolerant of uneven surfaces. But it's fine on flat floors including wooden floorboards, and the carpet tool works well too. The turbo power is amazing too - you can really deep clean a rug or carpet with it.
We got the absolute model which comes in a nice yellow/ orange colour and has a variety of tools.
