AIBU?

Just realised that Mumsnet has been depressing me...AIBU?

Is it just me? Is it a new thing? Maybe I've been here too long...about 7 years now.

I was just about to come on and have a browse and so forth and I thought "God I don't want to...it's so miserable!"

I know it's been said before...how you used to be able to have a laugh here..but there really has been a big drop in humour or something?

Didn't you flounce on a thread yesterday? Hmm

There will always be humourless types. They're out in force on a couple of threads. It's to be expected.

Just scroll past them, and enjoy the rest.

There are still some funny threads if you look! I've not seen one for a day or two but I can still manage a chuckle now and then!

Been here five long years.

I always revisit classics to get a bit of humour back when it all gets too much

I agree. I stopped reading for a while because it was baking me miserable, but then I started again because I'm sleepy and want some brain candy. But now I'm finding it miserable again.

Boogers no I didn't. I did say on that thread that I would leave if MNHQ didn't delete the post but the discussion's not over yet...they'll be back no doubt.

Anyway...that's not what THIS thread is about and it's bad form to bring up previous posts on new threads.

I think it must be because I've been here too long or something.

I started a thread on mental health about the way MN has been making me feel lately. AIBU doesn't always help.

Then leave.

Sorry but a post like this is not going to fix you feeling miserable about mn.
What is it your expecting to happen? The whole of mn will suddenly stop posting about serious/sad topics and only post fun stuff to indulge you?

Allowing a chat forum to make you miserable is daft and probably a good indication that a break from it is needed.

IT seems that people go out of their way to make people feel bad.

I don't understand the mentality of going onto a thread to type 'yawn'.

So what if it's a thread you don't like the style/tone/content/been do to death, other posters do not have a duty to create a thread purely for your amusement. Don't get me wrong, it's clear some posters browse classics, see a successful thread and try to emulate it, but is there really any need to make people feel stupid?

Why don't you take a break and refresh yourself.

If reading the site's depressing you then don't read it.

I've been here since 2003. But I stopped posting after the infamous Mouldies exodus and then avoided coming on here at all for years. Not only was it depressing, it was downright dangerous for awhile.

I'm back now, though as everyone can see!Grin

What's troubling you, VioletB?

Blue please dont let it affect your mental health- most of these people making shitty remarks will never meet you or be part of your life and making others feel like shit somehow gives them a bit of joy and power that they lack in real life. Its a cliche but it says more about them than you

I find mn light relief from the news

MN doesn't "make" anyone feel anything. It's up to people to look after their own well being and self regulate.

Just take a break if you aren't enjoying it.

Usually a laugh to be found somewhere. Recently been enjoying 'Penetration Man' and the resurrection of the 'Poo Crumbs' thread. I'm easily amused Grin

Yes, often a depressing place, I find I should bloody stay away from it but I'm weak-willed! I posted a lighthearted thread earlier in chat and it didn't get a single reply. I rarely start threads, either. I should have put LIGHTHEARTED in the title to draw people in, clearly. Wink

I'm physically weak at the moment from really bad flu. Cue total family panic when they found me crying and shaking with laughter in the kitchen last night. Thank you wheelie-bin thread Grin

PapaverSomniferum - I'm upset you didn't get any replies to your thread. Bet it was very exciting, too goes off to look

There are still funny threads.

There's a funny Tesco Delivery Man just told me he loved me one in Chat.

I did laugh out loud several times.

There are a lot of bullies on here.
I find it too has effected my mental health so I don't ever start threads.

I now play bully bingo on the threads to myself
