Just that ! According to a certain friend a set of parents who do not drink are far superior than a pair who share a bottle of wine over dinner twice a week.

I don't drink as a rule

If I go to a wedding or a proper night out I'll get bladdered but that probably a maximum of 4 times a year.

Other than that I don't drink. Not because I disagree with it but because drinking doesn't interest me

ClockMakerSue · 26/08/2016 22:00

I don't drink any alcohol and haven't since I was pregnant. I didn't particularly give it up or have anything against drinking, I just never started again and as I only ever had a cider once or twice a month, I don't miss it.

BewtySkoolDropowt · 26/08/2016 22:00

You think all mums are tee-total and drink 3 bottles of wine per week?

So.. you are not a mum then I take it.

Ratley · 26/08/2016 22:02

I stopped drinking when I fell pregnant and never started again. Not because it makes me a better mum but I just haven't fancied it since. My eldest is 10.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 26/08/2016 22:02

What about the dads?

ThisUsernameIsAvailable · 26/08/2016 22:04

I'm tee-total, not because I'm a mum, I have other, personal reasons

BestZebbie · 26/08/2016 22:05

It seems highly unlikely that all mums are teetotal given the amount of wine o'clock/time for gin mummy memes there are around...

Makemineacabsauv · 26/08/2016 22:06

Lol! I was only tee total when pregnant!! Cheers! Wine

somekindofmother · 26/08/2016 22:06

I don't drink. I'm still up in the night with the baby and up at 5 with the kids. I couldn't do it if I had drunk the night before, I'd be rotten. I am an extreme light weight tho and often don't know when to stop! I also don't like the idea of neither of us being able to drive, just in case. tho I'm aware that's probably not particularly rational.

Tiggywinkler · 26/08/2016 22:08

I'm a Mum.

I like a glass of wine.

It's not mutually exclusive!

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 26/08/2016 22:08

I hardly ever drink, a few glasses at Christmas is about it. For me it is a social thing and I have no social life! When I was younger (and pre dc) I used to drink when I went out. I would never drink in the house on my own.

My parents didn't drink in the house when I was growing up so I've never seen it as normal I guess.

I couldn't really give a stuff what other people do though!

I probably have a drink on average once every three weeks, I very rarely drink in the house, only when out for dinner and mostly DP and I will take it in turns to be designated driver. It makes me a better mum to DS because it is the difference between having a lazy day at home hungover while DS plays iPad and watched cartoons all day or taking DS out for the day, having his friend over to play and just generally being productive. It doesn't make me better than a mum who does enjoy a bottle on wine at the weekend though.

CathFromCooberPedy · 26/08/2016 22:10

I drink a bottle of red Friday and Saturday, then a few others Blush

Try to limit my intake to Thursday to Sunday.

jerryfudd · 26/08/2016 22:13

I don't drink in the week. Have a drink if I go out (which is rare). Just not that fussed about alcohol and can't stand wine. Wouldn't judge parents that do drink though and lots of my friends do

exWifebeginsat40 · 26/08/2016 22:14

i'm teetotal. but then i AM a raging alcoholic.

WhooooAmI24601 · 26/08/2016 22:15

I'm twatted on Pimms right now, to be honest. DH has arrived bearing a cup of tea and an eclair in an attempt to sober me up. Doubtful.

WindInThePussyWillows · 26/08/2016 22:16

I maybe have one drink a month but I am in treatment for cervical cancer and I have 4 month old twins - any free time I'd have to sit around and drink I spend sleeping! I would LOVE an ameretto and Diet Pepsi right now Grin

Owlytellsmesecrets · 26/08/2016 22:16

Ive git 3dc and one is disabled and never sleeps... Fri, sat & sun we have a couple of drinks

PonderingProsecco · 26/08/2016 22:18

I like a tipple.....

bookwormnerd · 26/08/2016 22:19

I am tee total but that's just personal choice and really have no opinion or care about what others want to drink ( I am total light weight and don't like feeling alcohol gives me and just grew up in immediate family who were non drinkers). I certainly dont think I'm better for not drinking. I am by far in the minority when comes to my mum friends. One of the most common statuses I see on facebook is wine o clock and I know I am seen as odd one as don't want to drink

I'm not teetotal exactly. I'll have a pimms or a cocktail if I'm out (once a year max!) but I don't like the taste of most alcohol, and I have anxiety issues so am worried about being out of control and not at home so I prefer to drive on nights out anyway. I am pretty happy not drinking.

But, all the talk of wine o'clock etc does make me feel left out as I cannot abide the smell or taste of wine and so I don't get to join in all that stuff.

Lj8893 · 26/08/2016 22:20

I rarely drink, only when I have a night out or special occasion, and then I end up completely overdoing it!
