Apparently we're moving in October. I haven't even seen the house. He's BU right?!

Obviously. But you left out the rest of the story.

Of course he's bu based on the information you've given us but I have the feeling there's a bigger story to tell.

Unreasonable indeed. Although there must he a back story?

Last time we moved house, we sold to a young family. The husband and kids viewed the house and the wife never saw it. We gave him our number and said that if she gave us ten minutes notice she could call any time to view it but we never heard from her. Hmm

Has he inherited a haunted mansion and you need to live there for the inheritance to properly complete?

Report
tibbawyrots · 25/08/2016 08:31

There's far more to this.

On the face of it, sounds like an extraordinarily shitty thing to do but we need more information really.

Does he have form for making major decisions without consulting you? Why didn't he take you with him to see the house? Had you agreed to a house move in principle/been actively looking at houses or has this come completely out of the blue?

Eh

PurpleDaisies · 25/08/2016 08:33

How has this come about? Had you ever talked about moving? Is it local?

There are too many details missing here...

WingsofNylon · 25/08/2016 08:33

Very strange! Has he even shown you photos?

Renting ?
Buying?
More needed

Are you splitting up? If so, this is entirely reasonable...

LumpyMcBentface · 25/08/2016 08:35

Blimey. Is there more to this?

Really not much more to it, he just called me to tell me he found a house to rent with the view to buy in a couple of years. We had been looking for houses but he didn't mention any houses he'd been looking at since the last one fell through. So I think this must be a snap decision he made while I've been away the last week and a half. He tends to make snap decisions a lot but usually just on buying things for himself.

It is localish and probably not haunted... I suppose he must have just got excited at being offered a cheap house (rent is half of what we pay now) but he should have talked to me first!

Hmmm, this is like one of those lateral thinking puzzles...

Maybe they are preparing to move to another country and OP's DH is out there but she can't get there yet. In which case not unreasonable if she agrees to it.

Or maybe OP hasn't seen the house because she's blind.

Wombat44 · 25/08/2016 08:45

Sorry OP, cross posted!

I dunno, I told dh we were going to buy this house.

We bought a house 2 years ago ( joint ownership and mortage). My OH didn't see the house until the deeds were in our name. I made the decision and he was happy to go along with it.

Only1scoop · 25/08/2016 08:46

Thank goodness it's to rent

I thought he'd bought it

I booked a rental cottage for my dh to live in while we wait to complete on the house we're buying. Neither of us have seen it.

I'm struggling to get hugely offended on your behalf. Are you annoyed? What did you say to him when he told you? Do you like the house?

Report
Motherfuckers · 25/08/2016 08:52

Half the rent? I can see why he did it. If it doesn't work out, you can move.

Report
Natsku · 25/08/2016 08:52

Grin at wombat44

So some people don't mind moving without seeing the house first? I have such particular standards for kitchens that I can't bear the thought of moving to an unknown kitchen. There's not even any pictures I can look at as its not advertised online. I'm going to have to insist on a viewing before I agree to move anywhere. He can move on his bloody own if the kitchen isn't decent!
