AIBU?

WIBU to leave DH without a clean shirt?

I do all the laundry, sorting, washing, folding, putting away. All I ask DH is for his dirty clothes to be in the washing basket. So, I am about to start a wash, I know most of DH's shirts are dirty and on the floor next to our bed. I do a wash every other day so it means he didn't put anything in the basket for a week or so... WIBU to NOT pick-up his shirts myself and leave him without a clean one for tomorrow?
TBH he still has 1-2 left but don't like them too much.
If it matters, household chores are evenly split between us, he works FT, I work 4 days a week and look after our 2 yo DT the other day.

Not at all. I'd hide the two clean ones too.

YANBU. I really hate when (now ex) oh and teen dd leave stuff on the floor and expect it to magically get washed. If it turns up late it's still their job - I don't hang it out, iron it etc.

Kick them under the bed on his side and feign innocence.
I did that with Dh when we were newly weds, I wanted stuff at least by the basket if not in it. Drove me mad with socks all on his side, so I kicked them under for a while, then he threw them in but balled up, so I started washing them like that, seemed to work that problem out too.

Only if you leave them will this ever change

You're not his mother!

If tomorrow he asks where his clean shirt is say 'I dunno, the wash basket is empty'

Ha ha (at myself). I thought from the thread title that you were all set to leave your DH and were in someway worried about doing this without doing all the washing and ironing. I was all ready to tell you that he will have to learn pretty sharpish Blush. Yanbu.

You work almost full time, do his washing and ironing and he can't even be arsed to pick his dirty clothes up off the floor?

Make the lazy fucker do his own laundry.

Of course YABU. Didn't you know it was YOUR job to run around the house and caring for your DH in every way possible?

Because that's what your DH thinks.

I'd be inclined to collect ALL his shirts and put the wash on at 7am tomorrow, so they would all be wet and unwearable.

YANBU. I do whatever laundry is in the kitchen next to the machine, i do not transport other people's laundry to the machine.

Sounds like your DP has failed to ensure he has enough clean shirts, don't know why you would stress about that it's not your problem!

Haha elephant no I haven't reached this stage yet!

He know that he should do it, and doesn't get arsey if I remind him, he just doesn't do it if I don't ask him again and again.
Anyway, ok I'll start the wash. Thanks for your input!!!

I just saw this video on Facebook that might make you chuckle as it's quite relevant to your thread! I've never tried to add a link before, hope this works:

Only leave them if it means he'll actually fo them himself then.

If you leave them, seethe for 24 hrs, then end up doing them anyway....you may as well just wash them now!

Oh I do like that video.

Someone on here once said that their partner would wash up, but not clean the bits of food out of the plug "because they'd all be gone in the morning". I think she was serious...

We have the same rule in our house. I never pick up laundry that isn't in the basket. No one's died.

great videos. I will show DSs the magic coffee table one! OP I once ripped all the buttons off ExDH's shirts I had washed because it was difficult to iron them with them still done up. I couldn't understand why he just took them off over his head and didn't think to undo them. I am far more mellow these days. And I only iron my work clothes

No. No way in hell would I pick up or wash his stuff. Lazy fucker. As I have explained slowly and carefully to DH, every time he leaves his washing at his ass he is effectively saying "fuck you, little, this is your job". It can lie there; I will not be made to beg or nag and I will not be subjected to such disrespect. If he has no clothes left that is his problem.

Needless to say I find that behaviour infuriating. I blame DH's mother, who ran round after him cleaning and laundering and warming socks on the radiator (no, really) until long after he was old enough to know better. My DS will not be allowed to shame me in this way. Even at 3 years old he knows what the laundry basket is for.

(Incidentally I only blame his mother because it was her who did the pandering, if his father had pandered then rest assured I would blame him too, I have equal opportunities rage.)

Same rule here, basket or it ain't washed. Add to that the rule for waiting until washing has been done to refill the basket - you then get to wash, dry and put away your own. That one is especially aimed at teenage daughters,..
