AIBU?

To accept it? Or do I ask for an awkward refund?

A lady I went to school with is a highly recommended beautician. I had my nails done with her before and loved them so I thought I would try these HD brows. I have naturally quite thick eyebrows and normally love them when I get back from a wax, but today I am a tad upset (I appreciate it is ridiculous to be upset about something as trivial as eyebrows).

When I got a look at them, they looked fine. There was a little too much make up on them for my personal taste but I thought I'd just remove it at home to tone it down. Removed all the brow make up and I have a bald patch! Like a slit in one eyebrow that looks like it has been shaved in like young lads do. I'm gutted. She obviously saw it and covered it with the make up. The brows were pricey, do I ask for a refund? Which will be horrendously awkward as I know her, or just suck it up and not go there again?

How bad is it? Is it noticeable? Do you often wear make up on your brows?

LordEmsworth · 24/08/2016 14:00

It is not ridiculous to get upset about eyebrows, not at all. I would be more than a tad upset... I would be extremely pissed off, how the hell did she think she was going to get away with that?! I would definitely be asking for my money back, and never darkening her door again...

I normally pencil a bit, but not much. She had put loads of make up on them but that's fine I expected that with them being hd brows. What I didn't expect was the bald patch when I took the make up off. It's very noticeable, to the point where I can't not wear make up on them now I'll they grow back. What would you say to her? I hate confrontation...

""I appreciate it is ridiculous to be upset about something as trivial as eyebrows""

There's nothing trivial about eyebrows!

I would ask her about it. After she's covered up her mistake, I wouldn't accept a complimentary eyebrow treatment, giving you a cheaper nail treatment would be the way to go, though.

GirlOverboard · 24/08/2016 14:11

Personally I'd just leave it. Eyebrows grow fast, you won't even notice the bald patch in a couple of days.

PotOfYoghurt · 24/08/2016 14:16

I would. If she has said 'oh I'm so sorry, I've taken too much off here' and offered a discount on price/freebie next time/was very apologetic then it would be different.

But to try and hide what had happened until after you had paid and left is incredibly sneaky of her.

stonecircle · 24/08/2016 14:18

I would text her or say to her something like, "Hi - nice to see you today/the other day. I always feel better after some beauty treatments. However, I was alarmed to see that, when I removed the eyebrow make up, I have a bald patch!!!"

And stop. Don't be tempted (especially if you're saying it rather than texting) to minimise it or fill in any awkward silences. Just leave the ball in her court to respond.

Mybugslife · 24/08/2016 14:19

Yanbu! I was a beautician for many years and I'd never let anyone leave who had part of their eyebrow missing. Everyone makes mistakes and on the odd occasion people would come back in and say this isn't right or my nails chipped already etc. We would always, always either refund or voucher or another appointment!

You received a service and if you're not happy you should say something.
Like you said she probably knew she had done it which is why there was lots of make up. Just explain xx

Mybugslife · 24/08/2016 14:22

Voucher for another appointment that was meant to say. Not necessarily that same treatment either

Oysterbabe · 24/08/2016 14:23

Can you post a picture?

tofutti · 24/08/2016 14:29

YANBU. Not at all ridiculous. And eyebrows do no always grow back, let alone fast. I would want my money back. I certainly wouldn't let her do another treatment

(speaks as someone with good thick eyebrows that were ruined by beautician)

CafeCremeMerci · 24/08/2016 14:30

I wouldn't say 'bald patch' I'd say an 'over waxed' area, that's very noticable. ' Bald patch' makes it sound naturally occuring.

What you 'should' do is phone & tell her you are disappointed.

What I would do is just not go back, but if she ever asked why I hadn't been back I'd tell her.

porridge90 · 24/08/2016 14:30

I might be overreacting but there's like 1 hair in that gap

To accept it? Or do I ask for an awkward refund?

Shock (don't worry it looks fine but...) that's quite a fuck up and one she really should have owned up to. I think you'd be wrong not mention it to her tbh.

PotOfYoghurt · 24/08/2016 14:33

Jesus no you're not overreacting! It's not like there's just a couple of hairs missing!

Scarydinosaurs · 24/08/2016 14:33

That's bad. Refund. Can you text her that photo?

Scarydinosaurs · 24/08/2016 14:34

And do you have a make up free before photo to compare?

porridge90 · 24/08/2016 14:36

She took one, shall I ask her to send it to me first before I say anything?

origamiwarrior · 24/08/2016 14:36

Missing the point, but you have lovely eyelashes!

CatNip2 · 24/08/2016 14:38

Definite refund. Good news is it will grow back, also you can cover it with make up, but that's not good.

I have a slight bald patch in one of mine, always had it, but whenever I go for threading the girls always point it out first just in case I accuse them of it I guess.

TheCrowFromBelow · 24/08/2016 14:38

Yes, absolutely you should ask for a refund that's not a good job at all.

I like your eyelashes!

porridge90 · 24/08/2016 14:38

She didn't eyelashes too today, LVL and they're great.

First of all, you will easily able to conceal that. But It was shocking and very unprofessional of her to conceal it. Send her the photo and say you aren't happy with the end result and how can she correct it.

porridge90 · 24/08/2016 14:40

Surely she can't correct it though?
