Surprised they let her in TBH most shows are quite clear they don't let children under a certain age in.

Some places are just not appropriate to breastfeed. They had a nurse in outside my local pool as a mother had been told not to feed in the pool she was actually feeding in the water so I don't think they were being unreasonable.

I don't believe for one second that the Daily Mail wanted to show the plight of harangued breast-feeding women. This sort of thing actually does more to harm the cause than help.

What this situation boils down to is that the baby wasn't in an appropriate place. Bfing or not. A theatre show which isnt a children's show is not a place for a baby.

No, you don't take a baby to a show like that. People pay good money for tickets - I'd be raging if I'd arranged a night out and somebody was there with a baby- I don't care if the baby wasn't making any noise at that point- it just shouldnt have been there at all. Get a babysitter!

Why, what's the problem? They had an empty row of seats behind them and empty seats next to them so it wasn't as though it was packed out. If the baby was noisy, then they would be expected to leave but it doesn't sound as though this was the problem.

You don't take babies to the theatre. If you take them out because they are being noisy you are already spoiling the experience.

Going to the theatre is expensive and not the place for babies.

Just because we think it wasn't a smart choice to take her baby to the theatre doesn't mean we can't support her from being removed for breastfeeding

I took dd to see Peppa Pig at the theatre and the women in front took out a potty for her dd to use. Right there and then. Thankfully the little precious had a tantrum so was taken to the actual toilet.

Lord knows what the mum would have done with the contents of the potty after the fact.

Apparently three other patrons complained about the baby. When she went in they apparently let her in on the condition that she sat near the door so she could easily exit if the baby started to spoil the show for other people. She didn't. People complained. She was asked to leave. Nothing to do with breastfeeding.

^Please see this note from the Arts Theatre Management. -The Arts Theatre patrons are always welcome to breastfeed in our theatre, café and foyer spaces. On this occasion we received three complaints about a screaming child during a production and took the decision to ask the patron to leave to calm the child. The patron was advised in advance that the production was not suitable for infants and agreed to sit on the end of a row near the door in case it was necessary to leave. The front of house staff have confirmed that they were unaware of any breastfeeding, and as the audience complaints state that the child was screaming this appears to be corroborated.
Our patrons enjoyment is our priority and we trust of front of house staff to make decisions to balance the needs of all patrons.^
Breastfeeding had no part to play in the decision made and the patron who has made the complaint above has been invited to meet with the management of the Arts Theatre to discuss the matter.

I agree that this is damaging the cause rather than helping. There are places that are not suitable for children if any age and mums of ebf babies need to accept there may be places where they can't go as they are child free regardless of how they are fed.
