Who was in the wrong here?

Probably partly me..

On a day out to a local attraction, we decided to pop to a supermarket first to grab picnic food. My dad was driving one car and I was driving the other so two cars all together. My dad is disabled and can park in the disabled bay and picked one on the far right end adjacent to a bus pull in. So to discuss our route while my DM shopped, I parked behind him sideways as disabled places are wide and my car is small (so blocking him in with my back wheels partially on the bus pull in, however there was 3 other cars parked on the bus stop so completely no space for a bus whether I was parked there or not). There was plenty of space for cars to pass me on the other side by the way, that particular part was one way and very wide.

Anyway, an empty small minibus turned up and beeped at us to move. I moved forward so my wheels were no longer in the bus stop but he still carried on beeping and telling me to move. I clearly indicated there was no way he could fit even if I parked somewhere else. However, then one of the cars parked in the bus stop moved meaning there was space for him to pull in. He carried on beeping at me and eventually realised I wasn't moving and parked in the empty space in the bus pull in. He then swore at me and pointed at the bus stop sign and aggressively shouted at me. Needless to say, I ignored him.

He came back out afterwards with a bag of shopping and I then realised he wasn't even picking someone up on said bus, he was just parking to do some quick shopping, which isn't what the bus stop is for. The car park has bigger sized parking spaces for minibuses/bigger vehicles and plenty of them were free.

I almost said something, but bit my tongue.
Was IBU? It's obviously nothing to get worked up about but has lingered on my mind.

If you weren't blocking him, or park illegally (?), he had no reason to be aggressive.

Why were you parked impeding access to a bus pull-in? No car spaces anywhere at all?

Did u not realise bus drivers own the roads? And u attempted to delay his shopping trip also! So disrespectful of u!

You were unreasonable. You shouldn't have parked in the bus space unless you were driving a bus.

If you weren't in the bus stop then he's in the wrong but I though the disabled spaces were so the a disabled person could use the facilities/shop and not as somewhere to park and stay in the car while someone else went into the shop.

Why didn't you just park in a normal space and wLk over to your dad? Confused

You shouldn't have parked blocking anywhere.

He shouldn't have parked in the bus lane to do his shopping.

Both as bad as each other on that score.

But no matter who was right or wrong he shouldn't have been aggressive.

Didn't really matter what he was doing. You shouldn't have been parked in the bus stop.

And your dad was blocking a space if he was sitting in the car while an able bodied person went and got the shopping. The whole situation could have been avoided if you and your dad had parked in Non disabled spaces.

disabled spaces are not for disabled people to park in so their able bodied passengers don't have far to walk

ffs.

My dad did go and get cash out the machine, so needed to be close.

But yes I suppose I was being silly. I could have parked somewhere else. Just didn't want to drag kids across car park. Blush

Won't do it again!
