To ask why some people are so cruel?

My parents are visiting and took us out for a meal this evening. I offered to get the tip as they were settling the bill, but realised I had no cash so nipped out to the cash machine at a bank a few doors down.

I was rushing to get back to the restaurant so walked quickly, and apparently inadvertently overtook a man who had also been heading to the ATM. He had to queue for about two seconds while the lady at the other cash machine finished. As he got to the front of the queue he glared at me and said "you really need to lose weight you know". Now I know it's not really up there with all of the horrible things happening in the world, but AIBU to feel devastated by this? I've never had a stranger say something so intentionally hurtful to me, I don't know why anyone would think its ok to do that. I haven't managed to lose much baby weight and I'm quite conscious of it, so maybe just being over sensitive. I'm too embarrassed to even mention it to my husband, but I really just want to sit here and cry.

I was in a hospital appointment with my grandmother and the receptionist said oh do u know if its a boy/girl i politely told her i wasnt preg but just had a baby nearly a year ago and she said oh right by the size of your tummy you would never know u werent pregnant

I was once walking with my friend (who is model tall, blonde and gorgeous) and a man said to me "look at your big tits bouncing when you walk" at the time I was about 18/19 a size 8-10 but had a chest (which wasn't overly huge) that was maybe a 34D...I swear I was so upset and felt humiliated. Thank you all so much, very comforting messages! I've been sitting here with watery eyes all evening feigning hay fever, but I think time to let it go now.
As shocked as I was, I managed to ask him if he had a mum or a sister and how he'd feel if someone spoke to them that way. I really wish people would stop to think about things like that before opening their mouths. Deep down I know he was just a horrible twat and that he shouldn't be allowed to ruin my evening, just genuinely saddened by what some people think is acceptable behaviour. Thanks again!
