SIL has a compulsive need to put '.??' after every question she asks via text message/whatsapp.

AIBU to find this insanely annoying?

Why is there a full stop before the question mark and why is there 2 question marks?

AGHHHHHH!

You are being unreasonable not to use aroper title for your thread. If you did then many could skip, over it as it is boring,

Adults don't text like this. Children do. Get more grown up friends

spring You're a delight, aren't you!

I'd find that irritating too, OP. Make up an equally annoying response with things and see if she notices!

I have a friend on FB who puts a space before punctuation.

Maybe she thinks a full stop is meant to be there. It's shocking how many people had a poor education in this country. It's very unfair.

I have an iPhone and DH has a Samsung when he uses an emoji I don't have it shows up as ?? on my phone in place of the emoji. Could that be it?

Although, that would mean she isn't using a question mark at all, just the full stop.

Grammar, punctuation and spelling are important. Unfortunately it wasn't taught for a while and a lot of current teachers went to school during these Dark Ages so they don't know what they're doing either.

It's the difference between knowing you're shit or your shit.

Very true Mrs!

That would drive me crazy too Op, but whilst we're on grammar, it should be why are there 2? (Not is, as you have posted Grin).

I'm wondering if you're my sil.
I can only apologise. I once used two ?? after a very big text question and now my phone auto corrects a single ?? to two. Every. Single. Time.
Although I don't do the weird space full stop thing so actually I can't be the annoying sil...

I really don't get why so many people use a space before punctuation ! It looks awful .
And yes a double question mark is pushy Grin

Get more grown up friends

This isn't a friend she's talking about. It's her SIL, someone she doesn't get to choose.

I also live with sil and her personality is as annoying as her texting.

She has an iPhone and I see the emojis, but the double question mark is always after a question.
