Arranged with a mum on Sunday night for ds2s friend to come over for the day today. She was going to drop him off and I would drop him back later.
Ds has been soooo excited!
I had a really busy day yesterday so didn't text to remind/confirm.
Roll on 10am...nothing.
It's now after 11 so I texted I answer
I texted again half an hour later...no answer. I asked if he was still coming so if not we could make other plans.
I just rang the number I have been texting on and the person who answered said "wrong number"
So....
Is it the mum just ignoring me and he child not wanting to come?
Fine...but let me know!
Or is it something else I'm not seeing?
I can't have been texting the wrong person!
Don't know the landline and it's not listed.
Poor Ds is so upset and I don't know what to tell him.
This is after last week my own sister dropping us ike stones when a better offer came along.
Sigh.
AIBU?
I feel like going round the house and knocking on the damn door!
(Don't worry I won't!)

How did you make the initial arrangement?

She's probably forgotten or there has been a last minute emergency.
I really wouldn't stress over it. (maybe she doesn't have your correct number either :) )

How did you get in touch with her the first time?

Via text.
Which she has been replying on
Except now when I text I get no answer and I phoned and was told it was a wrong number
😖🤔

Have you got the text history on your phone ? You can normally see the previous texts unless you e deletes them.

If something else had come up , surely she would have let you know.

Is she on FB? Could you message her on there?

Poor ds. This sounds really weird but can you make it up to him with a nice treat?

Report
LyndaNotLinda · 11/08/2016 11:32

That's really odd. Is she generally a flaky person? It does sound like her phone's been nicked or something :(

Can you take DS2 out for a treat - swimming/cinema or something? I can just imagine how sad he is - DS would be crushed

Your child isn't the demon one who has been wrecking houses on play dates is he?? She prob double booked plans and didn't want to appear to be a numpty about it!! Maybe a sly trip to mc is in order (urgh!) always a hit in a crisis! Not for me personally but a friend uses it!! Luckily we don't have one near us!!

I would go round to her house. I would assume phone has been lost/stolen and she has no way of contacting you

It would be well weird to duck out of a social arrangement by pretending it is a wrong number, after having communicated via that number Confused

If you've got the text history then I think she's avoiding you - unless her phone has been stolen but then (if it were me) I would know the arrangements and keep to them or contact you another way .

That is wierd... hopefully (not for her obv) her phone was robbed. Otherwise she;s a horrible bitch

Doinmummy · 11/08/2016 11:39

If her phone has been stolen, she could still have stuck to the arrangement or at least called round to explain .

I think after my sister letting us down last week it's hit harder really.
I dont know her well but her Ds has been here a couple of times.
I'm not on FB.
They actually live near my mum
God I'm so tempted to bloody go to the house!
(I won't!)
Ds1 being really good with him and they are on the ps4 now :)
Ive offered cinema and trip to park but they have been turned down.
It's raining here though so that doesn't help!

Poor DS, really odd though. You're texting with a number, and suddenly there's someone else on the phone? Maybe she's forgotten, or her phone was stolen, but I think she's just a bitch. I think she'd find a way to contact you otherwise.

I've told Ds he is not being invited again!
Ds is a really good boy...quite quiet and very kind to his friends.
Sadly they aren't so kind to him! :(
I'm going with the assumption she's a bitch,😡
Fgs we are adults!
If he didn't want to come all she had to do was say.
I've forgotten play dates before now and i apologise (profusely) and re arrange!

You poor boy.
the number changing and being reassigned between Sunday and today is a bit weird. :(

What a shame for your son! I hope it turns out to have been some kind of misunderstanding.

So do I.
It saddens me to think an adult would behave this way :(
