To be quietly chuckling to myself?

This is a very small triumph but it's making me grin secretly.

I do all the cooking in our house and I am pretty good at it. My DH is generally very appreciative but we clash on one minor issue. I prefer to cook with chicken thighs as they are cheaper, more tender and tastier than breast meat. DH is convinced that as breast meat is more expensive it must be 'better' completely ignoring the fact that it is drier and blander. As I do all the shopping and prep I get my way on this one although in deference to his -ignorant- refined tastes I always skin and bone the thighs before serving.

Yesterday his tea was a lovely dish of chargrilled chicken marinated in a chipotle sauce and served in tortilla wraps. I had eaten out so didn't taste it.

I asked him this morning how it had been (new recipe of my own devising) and he solemnly explained to me that it was very tasty but because it was thigh not breast, it had stringy bits and lumps in it that he didn't enjoy- completely unaware that because the supermarket had run out of chicken thighs they had delivered breast fillets instead!

I think the 'stringy bits' were probably shredded lettuce and the lumps were chili seeds.

He is a very, very nice man but this has made me so happy!

Ha ha ! Completely agree I don't understand the western fascination with breast meat!
You are very kind cooking for him when you eat out!

What a ninny.

Waitrose sell skinless, boneless free range chicken thighs which are great for whacking in any chicken dish that calls for breast. So much tastier.

Chicken Thighs 4 Eva!
