Not so much an AIBU but a should I. My ds has a job which finished at 9pm which pretty much rules out sitting down in the evening with a glass of something.

I just had a thought that if I had a drink now I would be fine by 9pm. I usually have a zero alcohol policy of I'm driving but I have small bottles of Crabbie's which are 1.3 units.

Would one now be ok? I live in Scotland so there is a lower drink drive limit.

You should be fine especially if you have dinner before you pick him up. Enjoy!

Technically you'd be okay, but wouldn't you rather have a drink when you're back home afterwards?

Seems a bit pointless. I wouldn't. Also Scottish and now surrounded by people who won't have as much as a rum truffle if they're driving.

Thanks. I definitely need it! School hols! I'm always very cautious as I have a low tolerance and half a glass of wine makes me tipsy 😁

You will be under the limit by then-one unit takes about an hour to metabolise (lots of factors affect the exact time but by 9pm one Crabbies will be out of your system). However, if you're going to worry, you won't enjoy it. Non alcoholic ginger beer is very nice too.

Cross posted with you. You "definitely need it"? Alcohol is a really rubbish way of dealing with stress.

Hyperbole. It would be nice to have a nice glass of refreshing alcoholic ginger beer.

I've decided to have half now Smile

So why risk it, or other people's lives on the road? Imagine how you'd feel if you were in an accident.

I don't understand why people 'need' to drink and justify it. As for driving after drinking, it's beyond irresponsible.

It's a couple of hours, not a life of termperance for goodness sake.

I think you can probably tell from the fact that half a glass of wine makes me tipsy that I really don't drink very much. Also i don't really drink wine.

I've had half 330ml bottle of Crabbie's which I finished before 5pm, so less than a unit. I'm pretty sure by 9pm I will have next to no alcohol in my system.

Just nice to occasionally have a drink, surely I'm not the only mnetter who occasionally has a small alcoholic beverage to unwind at the end of a day?
