Threads are filled up with people placemarking, it's really annoying when there is a perfectly good bookmark feature that takes you back to the last post you read up to on a thread. Please mumsnet do a post on this!!

How do you bookmark on the mobile site?

MagnumAddict Tue 02-Aug-16 14:57:59

Not placemarking to find out how to bookmark on the mobile site, I'd never do that... <whistles awkwardly>

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads Tue 02-Aug-16 14:58:25

I do use the bookmark feature but it doesn't help me if a thread goes poof. Nor does adding a thread to my watch list. I CBA spending time searching for threads that have been deleted.

But otherwise, bookmarks are great. Especially when an old thread is bumped and you realise you'd read it the first time.

LookMaAStone Tue 02-Aug-16 15:01:51

Yeah it doesn't help if a thread is deleted, but if you add a thread to your watch list so you don't have to search then bookmark where you get to, it'll take u back there when you go onto the thread. Mumsnet need to make it so when you bookmark on a thread it automatically goes onto your watch list.

On the mobile site, when you click on he little dots on each post it should be an option there. If it's not you have to go into settings and customise I think it is, and then you can choose to add bookmarks as an option. It should then appear on the options from the dots on a post.

Report, PM, Profile, Reply, Top, Bottom.

Nope - no "Bookmark".

<wanders off to "Settings">

Good finding it I just tried myself and i cant find it. Maybe it has to be done on the desktop site, its ages since I did it. You see mumsnet we need a 'how to'! But someone on here told me how so maybe they will be along soon to help...

It would be nice if everyone could colour-code their and the OP's posts too.

Then people might actually RsomeofTFT before having a go commenting when the OP has already backed down.

AnchorDownDeepBreath Tue 02-Aug-16 15:15:33

I don't think it matters, because people placemark for the deletion message rather than to actually placemark. It's just the accepted term.

Aprildaisy Tue 02-Aug-16 15:17:26

Am using the app in I phone and if you slide the last post to the left bookmark comes up there .

Atlas15 Tue 02-Aug-16 15:17:41

It's not the dots but the arrow

LookMaAStone Tue 02-Aug-16 15:23:22

Ok so on the mobile site if you go to the main talk page, then click the arrow on the right hand side next to the talk header. That has the customise option, then you can say yes to bookmarks.

FoxesOnSocks Tue 02-Aug-16 15:24:36

What happens if you bookmark more than once in a thread?

People post more so I can discover. 😄

LookMaAStone Tue 02-Aug-16 15:26:06

It should take you to the latest bookmark when you go back into the thread.....

PaintYourWagon155 Tue 02-Aug-16 15:27:50

I am on an android phone and don't have the bookmark option just the PM, report etc. Think the bookmark function is only available on the Apple apps.

GobblersKnob Tue 02-Aug-16 15:31:51

I can't find a bookmark option even looking where you suggested, am on classic though? I do have mine and op post highlighting on, that is vair useful.

Atlas15 Tue 02-Aug-16 15:34:38

If you have posted I don't think you can then add it to your watch list.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks Tue 02-Aug-16 15:34:45

Yep - I can now bookmark.

Doesn't help with the deletion messages though.

I still think MN need a "topic" where they put the thread title and deletion message of a deleted thread...

LookMaAStone Tue 02-Aug-16 15:35:00

I'm on an android phone using the mobile site. You need to add the bookmark option to the drop down that you get on each post. Go to the top of the page and there is a little down arrow in a circle on the right hand side. The menu that lets you watch threads. There is a customise option. Then you need to change it to yes for the display bookmark links option.

FoxesOnSocks Tue 02-Aug-16 15:35:47

You might need to go into desktop version to switch it on (option to do this us right at the bottom of the page)

Why is it defaulted to off?

WingDefence Tue 02-Aug-16 15:36:45

I think this all the time OP! grin

LookMaAStone Tue 02-Aug-16 15:36:51

I think in the customise options one of them is to automatically watch threads you post on

LookMaAStone Tue 02-Aug-16 15:39:53

No idea why it's default setting is off, wanting to start from where you left off just seems normal to me!

Chihuahualala Tue 02-Aug-16 16:04:03

Do you mean just clicking on watch this thread without actually having to post on the thread to place mark? I do that all the time. Just did it on the "asked out my hairdresser" one.
