Before you think I order for at unsociable hours, I am in Canada. When I ordered it, it was 6:00.

I ordered food for our evening meal. After nearly an hour and no delivery, I tried to contact the restaurant to find out if it was en route. The phone rang repeatedly, then went to a voice mail box that was full and would not accept any more messages. After another 45 minutes with no delivery, I gave up and called a chain restaurant for a pizza.

The first place just showed up at my door 2 hours and 20 minutes after I had placed the order and

Unless there's a hell of a lot more story that vanished when you hit 'post' too early, yanbu!

ShtoppenDerFloppen · 31/07/2016 01:31

Sorry... fat fingers on phone.

Seemed surprised that I was no longer interested in what he had to offer. So surprised, in fact, that both he and the female passenger in his vehicle felt it appropriate to verbally abuse me.

Would you have refused the order in those circumstances? Was I out of line?

Ynbu that a ridiculous time and they should of made you aware before you ordered on the delivery time to give you the option to go elsewhere. I'd also complain about them!

FindingRedShoes · 31/07/2016 01:35

You ordered a delivery meal from a restaurant which took 2hrs 20min to arrive? Of course YANBU!

No-one would order a take out if they knew it was going to take that long!

So surprised, in fact, that both he and the female passenger in his vehicle felt it appropriate to verbally abuse me. Stopped for a joint/shag perhaps...

NBU and I'd ring the restaurant tomorrow to let them know why in case the delivery guy comes up with a tall tale.

VioletBam · 31/07/2016 03:19

YANBU! What did they say to you?

WiddlinDiddlin · 31/07/2016 04:07

YANBU... in the slightest!

If the food is going to be a long time then the takeaway should make you aware of that at the time of ordering - if something comes up whilst they are making your order, for example, they have two drivers and one has a crash and they are down to one or, as happened where a relative works last week, the pizza oven broke mid shift, then they call you and let you know your food will be delayed and give the option of cancelling and getting refunded if you paid by card/over the phone/via internet.

Definitely, let the takeaway know that not only was the delivery driver rude as well as your food being ridiculously late, but they were carrying a passenger who was also abusive!

YANBU at all. If they can't bring it within an hour or so they should inform you and failure to answer the phone makes it worse.

cexuwaleozbu · 31/07/2016 07:23

Yanbu. On Friday when we ordered for delivery and they said it would be 45 minutes I was ready to knaw my DH's arm off by 48 minutes later (food arrived 3 mom's after that). There is no way that anyone reasonable would expect a wait of over 2 hours to be accepted. If they couldn't fulfil the order in less than an hour they should have respectfully declined your order as they were fully booked.

cexuwaleozbu · 31/07/2016 07:24

I have no idea why mins autocorrected to mom's

Adnerb95 · 31/07/2016 07:38

YANBU at all - and ring the restaurant and complain about rude delivery people. Unless they give you a satisfactory response - apology and some sort of offer (perhaps a voucher for a discounted meal or some such) then go on Trip Advisor and give an honest review.

Yanbu, but a few weeks ago I ordered food at 5pm. Turned up on time we ate, washed up, watched a movie....and then they tried to deliver it again....5 hours later
