I am in no doubt I am being unreasonable, can't stand these tops and think they make the most attractive people look bloomin' awful. I can't be alone in this surely?

Nope not alone. I hate em

Urrrrgh I hate them too.

Yep, yanbu. They are awful. Ditto those crop tops that are loose and end at boob level. Ditto anything with an elastic or asymmetric hem not fussy about clothes at all

Yanbu but no doubt someone will be along soon to berate you for policing other people's sartorial choices!

They are not flattering. Must give really bizarre tan lines too!

I was about to tell you that they were called 'cold shoulder' tops. in case you were looking for them. Frankly I think it's an apt name as that's exactly what I'll be giving them!

I have only seen cheap versions which hang oddly.

I assume the catwalk originals fit like a glove, and therefore look great.

My people have spoken ... I no longer feel alone !!!

Oh they are nice!

ESP with a good tan so I won't be wearing one

Aw... I'm not a big fan, but I do have this one, and I actually think it looks fab on me. I only wear it with skinny jeans for evening though, so no tan lines here:

(Agree with cutecat... Looks good with tanned shoulders!)

Just realised my sentence didn't make sense... The jeans don't prevent the tan lines, the evening-only usage does!!

You need to be slim with longish arms and toned tanned shoulders.

ShesAStar · 29/07/2016 19:24

I hate them! I think they are ugly and unflattering. Yuck!

Report
Gizlotsmum · 29/07/2016 19:25

I used to wear them years ago ( alternative ) wouldn't touch them now

ShesAStar · 29/07/2016 19:26

I'm just not keen on the style so having tanned shoulders doesn't help. I like tops that fall down one shoulder, like a slashed neck, oversized jumper.

Before I realised they were a thing, I thought I kept seeing women with a arm missing! (As the hole was actually a armhole of a vest) probably another sign of sleep deprivation...

I think they would actually suit me but i still think they are ugly. I love off the shoulder tops tho. Those look like a half way version for people who want off the shoulder but also want to wear a bra (which is the point of off the shoulder - that you don't have an obtrusive strap ruining the line).

I've got one on now. I get lots of compliments over it.

DietCockBreak · 29/07/2016 19:34

I like them.

YABU.

They look great with brown, toned shoulders. You need to pay for a good cut though.

If you look like shit in them, avoid!

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 29/07/2016 19:35

I personally don't like them but I can see they are flattering on some people.

Bleurgh, hate those stupid "clever" names, some smug git in a planning meeting came up with "ooooh let's call it a cold shoulder top""yeah, like it!!"
Pfft

I think they can look quite chic on the right person.

They look like shit on me, though.

Haha, was it the One Show that prompted your thread? DS (15) said "what has she got on?" and was most horrified when I said they are fashionable at the moment! I hope he doesn't make any negative comments when he realises his sister has a dress with cut-outs!
