AIBU?

to want what I reserved and paid for?

I reserved an Designafriend Elle doll at my local Argos for my dd birthday. She'd gone on about it since Christmas (they'd sold out everywhere ). It was her birthday on Sunday, so I checked the stock online (one left) and reserved it. Got my email confirmation and off i went to buy it. Fast forward to Sunday. Dd opens her doll, cracks the biggest smile, smile slowly disappears. She utters the words (ever so quietly) this isn't Elle. It's someone else. No hissy fits were thrown, she took the doll upstairs to play with. Me? I'm fuming! Got in touch with argos who told me 'yeah Elle being phased out to be replaced my Mia'. So why the hell was Elle being advertised?? Why does my receipt say Elle Doll?? Got another email from them this morning telling me 'the catalogue number you provided is for the Mia Doll'. I can just imagine them sat there sneering 'oh here's another one reserved and bought wrong doll'. Well Argos I have the email confirmation stating I had reserved the Elle Doll. Ha! AIBU to just want what I reserved?? Or to be so angry?? Maybe it's just hormones, or more caffeine needed but i am fuming!! Do I keep at them to give me what I ordered or just drop it?? ConfusedBlush

Naw, that's utter shit and I'd be angry too. Surely that's mis selling or something?

Does the word Elle appear on the box?

If your DD is happy, then it's not worth the stress.
But yes, poor service from Argos.

It's not very good from Argos.

Is the Elle doll available anywhere else?

I think you need to look very closely to see whether you've accidentally ordered the Mia doll. The word 'Elle' could be on the invoice regardless if it's the name of the series or similar. What comes up on argos if you type in the item number you reserved?

Sent a shiver down my spine!

Does Elle have a pink skirt? If so there is one on Amazon- could she have a friend for Mia as early Christmas present?

There's no name on the box, it's dressed in a completely different outfit and comes with a booklet of all the dolls you can get, that's how we know it's not Elle. The catalogue number I put in when I first placed the reservation was the Elle doll, but after being told they were phasing her out they informed me they would let whatever depth know and now when you put the number in it comes up with Mia Hmm now my dd is the Queen of hissy fits, and just by quietly telling us it wasn't Elle we knew she was unhappy Sad I know it's ridiculous to get so angry at something so trivial but the look on her face broke my heart. I guess I want argos to say yeah, we f $&@#d up!

It's quite confusing actually, Argos don't have an Elle doll on their website that I can see but do have Mia Except the description of Mia doesn't match the photo they have.

The Argos description does match the Elle doll on Amazon though.

So either way, Argos has got something wrong. I would definitely keep on at them, you have confirmation of what you ordered, they need to stick to that order.

You sound kinda nuts, tbh. Why didn't you open the box and look? It's probably in the fine print that subs can be made.

Ok you are being massively dramatic and your DD seems to be handling this more maturely than you. Yes you could complain, but she is happily playing with it so just don't encourage her to make a big deal.

and since you can take it back for a full refund, Argos have done everything they need to.

Nah, that would piss me off.

I know it's only a doll, but still.

Isn't this Elle?

I know you shouldn't have to but could you get this one?

Wow... Just looked at Deltas comparison and the description of the Mia doll is completely wrong.

If you Dd wants to, take Mia back, get a full refund and buy Elle from Amazon.

Looks like all Argos have done is substituted the word Mia for Elle and changed the picture. If that is what they have done then yes it will be the same product code but I wouldn't rate your chances of getting them to see that.

It is annoying but I think you are wasting time here when you could be taking the "wrong" doll back to Argos (before it gets played with and no longer new condition) and buying the right one elsewhere. I think I would have just agreed with my daughter that it wasn't the right one and get right onto sorting it out.

Argos do have the doll for sale on their ebay shop, it is interesting to note that on that page they do quote the same catalogue number as is now showing for Mia. If you do want to change to that one it's cheaper on ebay than Amazon.

Argos did this time with a travel cot, I bought one model and when I got it home noticed they'd actually given me a different one. It was an old model that was being sold elsewhere for much less so I wasn't impressed. I spent ages in there earlier this week trying to sort it out. They were pretty hopeless, but we eventually managed to agree that they'd sell it at the lower price.

It seems they feel it is ok to just interchange the products without telling anyone! I'll not shop there again.

Yep they did this to me too with a stupid Darth vadar night light, bought one for a birthday party and thought it was really good value so thought I'd buy another one for my son. Got it and when home it's not the same at all but a cheaper version!

YANBU. It is the disappointment that gets to you isn't it. I would return it and buy the correct doll from elsewhere, assuming that you can get one as shown above.

I would continue with emailing Argos and see if they will make some goodwill gesture.

I complained about a TV recorder box I bought from argos, it was described as having wifi but after I bought it I discovered that I would have to buy an adapter to get the wifi which argos didn't sell and I couldn't find elsewhere. After a few emails back and forth with their customer services dept they sent me a cheque for £30 as compensation so it might be worth trying to get something back.

My mum ordered two at christmas (one for each dd) and the same thing happened! She swapped one but it wasn't the same as dd wanted/we thought we'd ordered.
