In our case its a pack of toilet rolls. Don't ask me why but we always take some with us whenever we are going away, even just for a weekend. No history of ever running out of them anywhere but just can't leave home without a back up supply smile

Anti-histamines

Other than the normal medication, clothes etc it's an extension lead so that we can plug multiple things in at once because hotel rooms never have enough plug sockets

Vicks vapour rub..... Always gets used.

Agree with extension cables - we took 2 last time. Baby wipes and packs of hankies are also useful.

ShatnersBassoon Thu 28-Jul-16 13:51:13

Ear plugs and a pack of cards.

NoCapes Thu 28-Jul-16 13:51:32

Oh and talc, for sand removal

Dental floss. Have used it to tie a bust case, an emergency washing line, to mend a broken shower curtain, to sew a broken ground sheet up, as shoe laces. And when backpacking and staying in budget hostels I have used it as extra security on the door. Oh yes, have also used it as dental floss.

Corkscrew, just in case there isn't one!

Agree with earplugs, you never know if you're going to be put next to a stairwell or lift - or incessant seagulls etc etc

whattodowiththepoo Thu 28-Jul-16 14:28:54

Always on me just in case.

ineedwine99 Thu 28-Jul-16 14:29:09

Doyouthinktheysaurus Thu 28-Jul-16 14:34:21

Coffee machine
First aid kit

In reality, the only thing we ever seem to not pack is the kitchen sinkwink We don't travel light!

Biffsboys Thu 28-Jul-16 14:34:59

Ifailed Thu 28-Jul-16 14:36:34

A return ticket.

HereIAm20 Thu 28-Jul-16 14:38:11

Tickets
Passport
Money
Credit card

We do pack other stuff but our main philosophy is if we have the top 4 we can get anything else we have forgotten when we get there!

Brightnorthernlights Thu 28-Jul-16 14:39:00

My kindle.

(And a large bottle of calpol as second choice).

motheroftwoboys Thu 28-Jul-16 14:39:33

Wet wipes and anti bac hand gel for travelling. Coat hangers - there are NEVER enough. Good instant and fresh coffee, rubber gloves, sharp knife and a garlic press if we are renting. Holiday diary.

Brightnorthernlights Thu 28-Jul-16 14:40:15

Off topic slightly.....how would dental floss tie a bust case together ??

The OP asked for one thing. Anyone who has put more than one, please leave the thread.
