AIBU?

to ask you for a motherload of heartwarming, tearjerking, cosy things to watch, in deference to DP's mildly pregnant hormones?

Yes, including things with new babies if you would like. I want to find a load of nice, sweet, soppy films and TV things, because at the moment she can't cope with gritty realism. She's not big into stuff like Call the Midwife but she made me watch Bedknobs and Broomsticks at Christmas, so if there are good classic films we might not have seen, those would be great.

Thank you!

If you have Netflix, there's 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls to get through.

The Good Witch on Netflix. Dripping with cheese.

Oh, thank god for MN, this is exactly the sort of stuff I was hoping for.

Never thought of the Gilmore Girls, but googled it and it looks good. Also the Good Witch.

george - how could I forget that?! Though I think she might struggle with the sad bits, I will crack out the popcorn for myself sometime (I am also full of soppy hormones, honest. Well, that's the excuse ... ).

Under NO circumstances let her watch Ice Age 1.
I watched it while pg and am known for never crying - I was in bits!!!

Will certainly watch the Gilmore Girls - and I have never actually seen Nightmare Before Christmas, so will also put that on the list.

I might get her watching the old Anne of Green Gables (she's ginger), though I don't think she had the books.

If you do watch Royle Family as a PP suggested stay way way away from the special called Queen Of Sheba I think it is. I cried so hard the next morning my eyes were almost too swollen to open.

Second Gavin & Stacey, that's lush Smile.

Oh and for good old fashioned cheesy feel good films they've got Clueless, Legally Blonde and Serindipity on Netflix at the moment.

Ooh, thank you (both for the warning and the recs). Perfect.

I cried buckets at The Notebook...approach with caution! Although, maybe that's just me being soft.

The Princess Bride. Best feelgood movie ever (and funny too)

Aww.

Sorry.

I don't understand "heartwarming, tear jerking and cosy" - my DC and grandchildren are rather ... robust.

So, I would just recommend "Alien" and "The Birds".

RobinsAreTerritorialFuckers · 25/07/2016 23:28

Goodness, no need to be sorry! Just trying to sum up a mood, but it is difficult. So, in the interests of fairness, I will also put Alien and The Birds on the list, though they might stick out a bit.

It's for DP, though, not DC. Proto-DC1 is still probably not taking in a great deal at this stage. Grin
