AIBU?

To pay DS and DD to throw some old trainers out

DS has some old trainers that he brought downstairs to throw out, as he bought a new pair in town today. When DH saw them, he said that they were in perfect condition and demanded that they were kept. DH went out this evening and while he was gone, I told DS to stick them in a black bag and chuck them in the outside dustbin where he wouldn't find them. I just wanted them out of my kitchen tbh. DS said that they were impounded in the kitchen and I needed to pay a release fee to have them removed. WIBU to give DS £2 to chuck them in the bin. Inevitably, DD also wanted £2 because she also chucked an old pair of trainers in the bin a few days ago, so I gave her £2 as well. WIBU?

Hahaha you've raised a very entrepreneuring kid there!

Yanbu I thought you were gonna say way more than £2 per child

£2 and put them in a clothing bank if they're still in good condition - seems a shame to just bin them!

Why do you want to throw out a pair of shoes that are in good condition?

Put them in a clothing bank, so wasteful to throw out something in"perfectly good condition" that could be used by someone else in need. Give him the money to take them to the nearest one.

Paying to throw them away I would say is definitely being unreasonable.

Paying them to donate to charity or someone in need however, would definitely not be being unreasonable. Teaching them not to hoard unwanted and no longer needed things whilst also helping those less fortunate... not bad at all. Plus they can buy, well, whatever £2 gets a kid nowadays
