Hi all. Iv been at hospital since 7am for the elective c section (first).

Waited around until they came for us at 5pm. We were the only ones booked in. I understand emergencies come first but I wasn't allowed to drink or eat anything from the night before. A midwife put a cannula in my arm and burst my vein causing fluid to swell my arm.

Anyway, c section went well. Beautiful baby is here.

My spinal has worn off and I'm in agorny. I spent 3 hours requesting some painkillers, also for someone to clean me up as I have bled sooo much. I can feel if dropping out of me.

Finally someone has came and cleaned me up and lots of blood clots. Expecting me to lift myself off the bed etc. I'm in agorny!

I'm trying to breastfeed. No one has actually showed me how so I'm just guessing although they say her latch is perfect. She's been on it since 7 and everytime she comes off she cries. I'm so tired and want to sleep. Her nappy hasn't been changed either

I just want some help. Also not ate since 8pm last night 😪😪

Omg you poor love that sounds bloody awful! I would now be demanding to speak to someone senior - have you anyone with you or someone who can come who is strong willed and not exhausted? Have they even offered you food??

Call your dp and get him to bring you food and kick the butt of the midwives. That is not normal. At all. You need medical attention. Ring the bell and shout until so Eco Es and make a fuss, it's not right. Congrats btw

Ask to speak to someone senior now.

Pals if you don't get anywhere. You should be feed and looked after not left to bleed and feed without food.

Oh that's just not acceptable - you've had surgery!
Make a fuss or if you have a dp or friend get them to make a fuss for you.

Appalling... Dare I ask where you are? Is there someone who can complain for you? You need support. Best wishes.

I'm in Kettering.

The drip fell out a few hours ago. I'm so exhausted. Dp went home at 8 when visiting hours finished :(I'm so hot too and once again I can feel blood gushing down below. My scar is bleeding too and not sure if that's normal. Baby is feeding constantly which is okay but I need to sleep lol

Ring the bell. Keep ringing it. This is not acceptable. Are you hot with the weather or hot feverish? When did they last do your observations?

^^ This!

Ring that bell and ring it again.

Please be assertive and pester them. I had s normal delivery and whilst they cleaned me up fine they just left me with DD feeding/crying all night. They also weren't going to feed me so I sent DH for food. I really wish I'd been more assertive and asked for more help. I seem to remember someone on here saying recently that midwives won't offer to take your baby off you for cuddles/to sleep unless you ask.

Congratulations on the arrival of your baby too! Flowers

I managed a 20 min kip while midwife walked her up and down but she was too unsettled. She's bought her back and I literally jumped out my skin. As soon as she was placed on me she fell asleep. Now I'm left alone again. What do I do? I csnt sleep with her on me!

Well first of all, congratulations on the birth of your DD Flowers.

Unfortunately, you will have to be assertive. It's so difficult if you're not naturally assertive, I know. I was recently in hospital, went a day without eating (wasn't nil by mouth) and was on a pump for my IV, so was connected to a socket. Had to ask a nurse to disconnect me if I needed to go for a pee, and had no call bell. At one point I spent two hours desperately trying to flag down a nurse whilst trying not to piss myself.

Ring the bell. Please do. You should absolutely not be left in pain, bleeding, dehydrated, and hungry.

Poor thing! I had an emcs and was given oramorph after the epidural wore off. I don't remember snd bleeding from the scar but then again I think it was heavily taped with a compression bandage. I fell asleep with baby latched on but woke up to find she's been strategically moved beside me and propped up with pillows!
Ring the bell! Exaggerate if it will get you seen!

Jeeeeeeeeeez...

Its hard if you aren't a frequent flyer in hospitals - I am! I was a wimp at first but if you don't grow a pair sadly, you will get ignored in some hospitals (shouldn't be like that, but it is).

That bell by your bed - ring that fucker until someone comes and don't stop.

TELL them - your drip fell out, you are in pain NOW, you are bleeding, you are hungry and you are uncomfortable. TELL them you will be speaking to PALS about this first thing in the morning.

Be polite, be smiley, engage a sense of humour, but do not sit there in silence - ring the fuckin' bell until someone comes to help you!!!
